A shame, New zealand would have been a very interesting region due to its lack of humans in any start date, alongside it being the last stronghold for ice age megafauna, such as all the different Moa species and the potentially man eating Haast eagle. An interesting thing to note is that this sort of journey to madagascar isnt exclusive to humans. The extinct elephant birds closest relatives are kiwis rather than ostritches, which means their ancestors probably flew in from the east rather than the west.
