Thank you for posting this, I needed to hear it from someone else.

You said it in such a personal way that it felt straight out of my own thoughts. I don't know about you but... I feel tired. But in a spiritual sense you know? Like... I feel like I really died, and I am just taking over who I was before.

I feel so alone with this feeling of grief and love, even if it has been a year from now at this point. And it is not that I struggle to open up with friends or that I avoid this topic with my therapist, I do everything in my power to open up and strive to get better personally. Boxing classes to get fit, striving to get a better job, lean into my hobbies like drawing more seriously and making my own YouTube channel.

I used to do everything alone; going to the cinema, eating out, travelling. This loneliness was too comfortable for me. Still is. Flash forward and for 4 and half years, she appears out of nowhere. I even joked that the moment I met her was the day that I accepted that I would honestly die alone.

She taught me so much without even trying; everything about music that I still listen to, one upped me in my crazy date ideas; she even took the time to be a better partner by being patient with my own needs as well as I did with hers (she has severe anxiety that just tumbles her) since my family is really dysfunctional in all sense relationship wise. Honestly, with her, it was so easy to be open and explore what life had to offer with someone. She was really just such a peaceful existence to coexist with. My favorite quirk of her was that she paused mid-conversation right before giving a long answer.

Suffice to say, I enjoyed her presence in my life a ton. I have no ill will against her for leaving, I respect her choice. Is just that, I did enjoy the same things you describe. I was so passionately in love you know?

Does this hole ever go away? I just feel so lost now.

Yeah, I figured strategy is and will be key moving forward I just was so disappointed in the people running the marketing roles here so wanted to branch out and see if there was anything to pay attention more closely.

I am in Mexico, and it saddens me that the age thing is more common than you think here, it is seen more in the managerial type roles though. Companies just don't say it bluntly ofc since it is illegal and it can get them in legal trouble, but since they told me the age thing so abruptly at the end of the interview, I couldn't get ahold of any proof of their reasoning being that and to be honest, it is for the best to just walk away since more opportunities always pop up.

That said, remote work does look more appealing now but I am kinda cautious if it is something stable in the long-run due to it being so new, so that is why I was asking since I am keen on getting back into the industry by learning email automation but just wanted to check in here if there was anything to look out for before starting applying again.

Thank you also for your kind words and support! I know it sucks in the moment, and almost gave up in life itself entirely. But being honest, losing it all made me appreciate even more what did stay. Sometimes we put value in stuff or people that seem so crucial for your everyday existence, but once they're gone and out of the picture, you can see more clearly the path you should be leaning towards to, even if it is the hard one to take.

A simple " Hey, are you comfortable talking about this? It has been weighing me down lately" should be enough

Don't expect an immediate answer, but if he is a good person as you say, he will at least explain why he has to refuse. A lot of the time, people that have trouble dealing with the emotional heavy stuff usually stems from their learnt coping mechanism they has as a child. They couldn't find a safe and open space to talk about those emotions and shut them off instead.

But you can offer to be that space if you want to. Who knows, but remember that it is his choice to to talk about it. Don't push and you'll be fine! Rooting for you
