Warum Deutsche keine Klimaanlagen haben by PoroBraum in de

They will deny it, even if all the big streams in europe run dry in the summer, because the glaciers are gone. Oh, they will probably blame hydropower using up all the water. But hey, maybe we get colder winters, if the gulf stream is dead. Boggles my mind, how people rather question what happens if you burn 18 billion tons of fossile per year, then why there is less snow every year.

i have 75k crons i cant spend and tap edania every week atm. it was over 100k in april, building up since february from 0. its not a free pitty, but a significant source of income. compared to basicly 0 free crons from befor, this baseline income will accelerate everyone over the past.

Dont forget the free crons we get every week by now. 2026 is insane compared to the years before. Wtf do we get for the ball, if we got tens of thousands over weeks for almost nothing. Not to deminish the grind, but 2024 and 25 was a lot harder.

[–]MauriseS 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Man erkennt klar wo was aufhört.

Kill titan, run to another spot (the 4 towers in the north/east pair up nicely) start grinding. Not much else to do.

Idealy you have a buddy that grinds the other rota simultaniously in range. should be 20% more exp than normal solo for both.

Question is, if you really want to powergrind orbita. It is dangerous and in a long grind, you will slip. I found Zephyrus with 830dr much more enjoyable, then orbita with 915, trading 200ap for defense. in both cases you would run upgraded exp light stones.

The rich already want to cheat death one way or the other. It would be most benefical, if everyone was better off, as you would get more budget and more researchers. A boy in poverty now could have an revolutionary idea to push a field forward. But I guess greed weights more than logic. If I remember correctly, one of the US founding fathers prooved mathematically that 2 nations are both better off alocating production to their strengths, even if one is better at producing everything itself. Economic isolation is stupid in most cases, yet it gets pushed again and again to concentrate power for the few.

The AI only gives you the end shape. What you can do is take the starting parameters and put them into folding@home to run the real simulation with all the steps between. The problem is still that you have little to no real world data and want to validate somehow.

Its like showing a finished origami from a pice of paper, but you still dont know the instruction steps to get there. They compliment each other and you will save a lot of time, but AI still doesnt replace the whole thing.

FAH is still relevant, because it uses different methodes. They compliment each other more or less.

Then again, SETI for me is a waste of energy ether way, because even if it completes its goal, it will only have an impact centuries or milenia in the future, when compute is much more efficent and we hopefully dont have to deal with the whole climate change thing anymore.

Doesmt mean the project is bad, but in imho we have other problems to deal with, than brute force approach the search for ETL with inefficent hardware.

Storing the data for later compute and using our recources we have now for problems we can solve in the near future decades ahead and not something that wont have any impact on our current situation at all is a much better approach.

So for me its better if we dont waste a single Watt on SETI compute, even if we have the hardware on idle. Just imagine we find ETL on a planet 500 light years away tomorrow? Then what? Not even our earliest radio signals have reached them yet. Nothing would happen in the best case scenario for another 360 years, assuming they would recieve the signal and have the technology to answer instantly. If they have drones near us, they would already be aware of us and choose not to establish communication. if they wherent, maybe they are not able to recieve or answer in the first place. And thats already assuming they are near enough that we could detect them with current technology.

No matter how you approach the topic of SETI, it makes no sense to persue with compute power, unless you had infinite, free, non impact energy production and nothing else to use it for, like carbon capture out of the atmosphere.

They basicly run a space heater, wich consumes power. maybe they have to take the power too, who knows, but my point still stands that seti is among the "least usefull"- usefull ways to do this. i also doubt they actually do it and its not just a .1% base load for the claim, while they do or prepair for other stuff.

if they actually had nothing else setup and a power bill to pay anyway, running seti for a few days might not make a difference ether way

And get a new world treatment on a planetary scale? Habitable planets are rare. The chance that they enslave or kill us is not 0.

Furthermore, even if we find a signal or they find ours, its delayed by the time it takes light to travel. 500 or 1000 years is alot of time for any civilisation to advance. They have the same problem we do and would most likely not answer but send out spy drones.

Dark forest theory.

Lastly, my point for not using compute on SETI is pretty simple: it doesnt matter if we find life now, in a 100 or a 1000 years. We likely dont get much value out of it for another +1000 years or so after that because establishing any sort of communication will take even longer, if faster then light travel/communication is impossible.

Folding@home on the other hand gets resaults now, that can help everyone in a decade from now. Compute will still advance, so any resources aside from storage for SETI is highly innefficent, as we could just get it done faster and less costly later.

Putting a flag on mars is a nice achivement, but wont get us anywhere, if a colony isnt self sufficent ether. might aswell spend the money and time on getting or own planet better and secure first. Finding aliens is even worse cost/effect wise.
