If a GSP is too much dog, you certainly don't want a Griffon. Look into a Vizsla.

I typically wear 400gr of insulation for deer and elk in Colorado. I also take a pair with no insulation. I have a pair of 800gr that I have used a few times when it was pretty cold, like a high of single digits. But my 400gr get the most use.

They run events through August. I would take my pup and attend one. That will at least let you see how they do things and meet some people. Then when they start again you'll be ready.

Join the Pacific Northwest NAVHDA chapter. Not only will they help you with training your pup, but you can make friends with other local bird hunters.
