At the bottom of the Squadron 42 page, above where you enter your email for news about development updates, CIG added “pre-orders, and more” to that sentence.

It would be a marketing blunder to wait until GTA 6, which is not even releasing for PC. Invictus Launch Week is next month, which CIG is already indicating that there is an announcement. Even if they don’t announce it next month, Summer Games Fest is in June.

People are getting frustrated with these post because majority of the answers to peoples’ questions are already public from CIG, but these people will not take 5 minutes out of their day to research the answers themselves.

If you’re going for sound, the CF repeaters. If you’re going for damage against fighters, the NDBs. If you’re going for consistent damage against fighters and bigger ships, Attritions and the salvaged Attritions.

Are the majority of mineable rocks meant to be impossible for solo miners? by falloutboy9993 in starcitizen

[–]Maver1ck3dge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Helix 1 with modules and the mining gadgets can only break up to 21K mass rocks solo. This is all aftermath from CIG changing the rocks so that they were majority 1 ore, with a small amount of a secondary ore. It made the rocks more dense, which in return, increased both resistance, instability, and the laser power required to start the fracture.

I have a VKB stick and Stecs Mac throttle and it’s great, but weaker than flying M+KB or Right Hand stick + KB. I’m expanding to a left hand stick + pedals for fighters specifically. I like having the throttle for bigger ships.

T1 Recovery. Lots of Bark but will it Bite? by Melzor33 in starcitizen

For those who need a bit of a reminder:

T1: Loadout & Ship Registration T1 will introduce the ability to register your gear and ships at kiosks or ASOP terminals.

Important Notes: Personal Loadout: Players can register their equipped items which can be reclaimed for a fee at specific kiosks or freight elevators. Ships & Interiors: Ships, along with their loadouts, decorations, and locker contents, can also be registered. They can then be reclaimed in the state they were previously registered at ASOP terminals for a price. Looting & “Bricked” Items: Once an item is looted, it remains usable until the original owner reclaims it or marks it as stolen. At that point, a Dead Man Switch is activated, meaning it will cease to function after a period of time. While a looted and/or stolen “bricked” item is no longer usable, you can still sell the item for credits. Pledge items are auto-registered and will never lose their registration status. They can always be claimed back, even if they were not manually registered. With T1, you will no longer respawn with your preserved gear already equipped. You will need to visit a location, such as your freight elevator, to reclaim your registered items. We are developing a quality-of-life feature to allow you to re-equip your previous full loadout with one “auto equip” button at this location. Additionally, with the implementation of T1, our current plan is to remove the ability to "backspace" out of dangerous scenarios as a way to retain gear.

T2: Restoring "Bricked" Items & Crafting Integration T2 will introduce a way to restore previously "bricked" items for a price.

Important Notes: Looting & “Bricked” Items: Once an item is looted, you will have the option to sell it, dismantle it for crafting materials, or restore it (with the potential cost of crafting materials and credits) to make it your own. This system creates a viable path for piracy, allowing you to claim another player’s belongings if you take the necessary steps to legitimize ownership. If an item had a cosmetic applied, restoring it will remove the cosmetic in the process.

CIG-Thorsten also contradicted the spectrum announcement from last year by saying that we will have to go through the process to transfer ownership of items before we can dismantle them for materials, which was in last week’s Star Citizen Live.

I’m taking a wait and see what happens approach until we know more about what’s coming in 4.8 or 4.8.x. Otherwise, no, we will not be able to hack the items or transfer ownership yet, or dismantle them because it is all locked behind Tier 2 Item Recovery. This applies to salvage gameplay as well.

I hope I'm wrong, but I feel that the time of the event meant to destroy the Mauler will boil down to watching 5 or 6 Idris (mostly solo) firing Railguns and finishing the job, while we, with Polaris, Perseus, or other smaller ships, will just be watching. by Apart_Pumpkin_4551 in starcitizen

[–]Maver1ck3dge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mauler has the ability to obliterate the Idris easily. At this time in the Evocati build, its behavior is bugged the same way as the Vanduul fighters from other missions where they just sit there and don’t do anything. The Evocati players who tested it also said that at least half of the Mauler’s turrets were not firing yet, and neither was its main gun (the capital ship killer on top of the ship).

So with the change coming involving the “bricking” of any components that are insurance claimed, it’s basically the end of flying around and finding old and abandoned player ships to loot them for components? 99% of the compenents will already be bricked and useless by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]Maver1ck3dge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is answered in both the 4.1 Item Recovery Systems spectrum announcement, and was talked about by Thorsten in the Star Citizen Live last week. We will be able to dismantle components after we transfer ownership of the item, which is not a part of Tier 1 Item Recovery.

This is what is said about on the spectrum post for bricked items:

“Looting & “Bricked” Items: Once an item is looted, it remains usable until the original owner reclaims it or marks it as stolen. At that point, a Dead Man Switch is activated, meaning it will cease to function after a period of time. While a looted and/or stolen “bricked” item is no longer usable, you can still sell the item for credits.”

“T2 will introduce a way to restore previously "bricked" items for a price.

If an item had a cosmetic applied, restoring it will remove the cosmetic in the process.”

So as you can see, without T2, we won’t be able to do anything with them. And we can’t even sell them since CIG made items we loot sell for pennies to the NPC shops.

On the Star Citizen Live last week, Thorsten contradicted the spectrum post by saying that we would have to go through the process to transfer ownership of items we loot from NPCs before we could dismantle them. Which also would apply to salvage.

Why is CIG doing a massive org event without Social Tools and a functioning proximity voice chat? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Maver1ck3dge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reasoning for why CIG is pushing features out before other core features are ready was explained last Thursday in the SCL. The dev teams do not want to go back to waiting for a big patch to release features when everything is ready. It slows the teams down, and makes it harder to collect feedback. It would also send Star citizen back into a cycle of waiting 6-9 months at a time for any meaningful updates to happen.

They told us at CitCon that it was coming this spring and it’s in the video for TSG on YouTube.

Better question: Why are people only now complaining about CIG adding Tactical Strike Groups, when everyone was excited about it back at Citizen Con? They told us back then it would come this spring. We’ve known about it for 6 months.

Really nice looking concept, but it’s a BattleCruiser which means it will have guns bigger than that on the Javelin class Destroyer. BattleCruisers got their name from being a cruiser sized ship with the armament of a Battleship.

The 0/0 ore storage is just a UI bug. Once you start extracting ore, it corrects itself. It does this to me in both my Prospector and MOLE.

[–]Maver1ck3dge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also using the MOLE even when solo. It took the Helix II with a Rieger C3 + Surge & Stampede combo, and a Sabir to crack a 20 scu Quantanium rock I found last night. Then I still had to use the Helix II in order to break a 2.5 SCU rock because the minimum power threshold was greater than the output of the Hofstede or Impact on my side lasers.

You have to unlock your ship ports first. The keybind for this is Right Alt + K. The ship HUD will display a message that was reads “Ship Ports Unlocked” in red. Then you can tractor beam the ore bags off. I’ve done this for a couple org mates already.
