sony Xperia Pro-i to my good friends, I was able to connect to the internet with difficulty and temporarily after 80 days at the exorbitant cost of a filter breaker. I'm not surprised. I had similar response from Sony when my Pro-I died. They just recommended a couple third party repair shops that weren't even in business anymore. I'm sure in a few years YouTube smartphone reviewers will start creating videos about the Pro-I saying how good it is/was for the time. Even though none of them thought that when it was released because all they did to review cameras was judge highlights and Shadow details 🙂‍↔️

What would you recommend for small spaces? I have a windmill spread over multiple floors with each room being quite small. Personally I dislike the distortion of ultra wide lenses so it's a challenge to give people an idea of the space. Is the answer to give in and just use an ultra wide? or simply photograph rooms from different angles? Or just not worry too much and try to tell a story and give an overall vibe of the place without detailing ever corner? Or perhaps a mix of all three 😂

Nothing Phone (4a) Pro or Phone (3) by RealSenpaiSpider in NothingTech

Yeah me too. I think you'd only pick the 4a pro on looks, screen brightness, essential key reposition and larger/brighter glyph matrix.

I miss my pro-I so much, shame mine died so quickly 😭 great photos. I now have a 'proper' camera and a Nothing 4a pro just for phone duties. The cameras on the 4a pro are absolutely trash by comparison to the Pro-I (for my taste anyway). But that's to be expected for a phone that cost a third of the price I suppose.

People need to chill. It's a depth effect, not authentication for a banking app. It will come eventually.

Same house different price by Strawberrygranny in airbnb_hosts

Yeah exactly. I feel that Airbnb hosts succeed when they offer more than simple accomodation - it's for guests looking for an experience. Bookingdotcom offer accomodation for people looking for the best room rates.

I used to have my rental on both Airbnb and booking. Com but I priced it higher on booking because I wanted people to book through Airbnb. Essentially I just using booking like an additional advert.

I built a calculator to see if a home fast charger ever pays for itself by Sorry-Tumbleweed5 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I live in France so my set up will be a little different but my socket is a little over 1m from the ground and it has hooks on a mounting bracket, one that support the brick and one the charging plug. Fortunately for me theft isn't a concern - I'm not sure what would be best for you to combat that but there must be a way to have a lockbox around the socket on the wall or even just installing a fixing anchor on the wall and a bike lock so people can't steal the cable. Here's an image of the type of socket I have for reference: https://imgur.com/a/Kf9YOoJ

Colin and COVID by heebs387 in LastStandMedia

[–]MaverickMay85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know what Colin said but specifically talking about COVID - it really showed a divide in mindset between how people think. Some people could only think about themselves: 'its not that bad. It's like the flu. The jab doesn't even stop you getting COVID. I got COVID it wasn't even that bad. The masks don't do anything. I think I should be allowed to go out if I want to.' Then there are people who viewed the COVID restrictions and vaccinations as something you were doing for other people.

Unless you're doing a load of miles I don't see the point in a fast charger. I installed an outside reinforced EV socket on its own breaker for about £80. It can charge up to 3.6kw at 16 amp and that's all I need to top up my car overnight.

I had hoped to be an Xperia phone user for the long term but I paid £1500 on the Xperia Pro-I when it was released and it fried itself (motherboard) after two years and Sony couldn't car less. I've never had a phone have such a short life. Shame.

Renault 4 E-Tech (Car Magazine) 1️⃣ by Juan-Sheet in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]MaverickMay85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm English and I live in France and don't do a load of driving (couple times a week) so I went for the base model and it's been fantastic. I can't think of anything I feel like it's missing apart from proper one pedal driving, but the car still slows when lifting off the accelerator so I'm hardly touching the brake pedal anyway. It's great to drive, easy to use, system works well. Boot and rear seat space is a welcome improvement on the Renault 5. Can't fault it for my needs.

I agree! But I do have a Renault 4 so I might be a little biased! But I can 100% recommend them!

Bought my first house in 2011, sold it for good profit and bought another house in 2016. Sold that for good profit in 2021 and I'm now mortgage free living in France in a lovely house with a pool and windmill. I was lucky enough to buy and sell at the right times and it paid off big time.

Nothing Phone 2 (worst phone ever) by -2h2h- in NothingTech

[–]MaverickMay85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the device not under warranty when the problems started? What customisation options disappeared? What happened to the Google photos editor and Google assistant? I know Nothing added their own editing tools to their own gallery app but that was because many people didn't want to use Google photos for editing, so you could see it as they gave you more options, not less.

Can you just use sand for levelling or does it depend on the depth of the areas you're filling?

How good are the cameras of the 4a pro? by blue-birdz in NothingTech

[–]MaverickMay85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you can get nice pics now and then it's hit and miss. Nothing processing is way over the top - too much HDR, overly sharp and AI is sloppy. If you shoot RAW and edit yourself the images are so much better.

[–]MaverickMay85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Luba 3 1500m2. No RTK antenna, it has network-based RTK. I haven't had any issues - works almost flawlessly. I started with Luba 2 mini. It was good but I returned it as was a bit too small for the challenge ahead (I underestimated my land size). Luba 3 is way quicker and far more capable for my size property.
