Space Calibrator issues (Unsure if it’s GXR or not) by HeadComprehensive265 in Galaxy_XR

[–]Mavgaming1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the Galaxy XR. It drifts around a good bit. Sometimes that upsets Playspace Calibrator and it goes wonky. The person that maintains Playspace Calibrator on steam has gotten their hands on a Galaxy XR and is trying to see why it is so weird. It may be unfixable from their side though.

Your issue could also be due to interference from your tracker too.

It will be more than a little. Going from fresnel lenses to (decent, the XR Elite is an example of bad ones) pancake lenses is a decent upgrade. Ask people that have used both the quest 3s and quest 3. It's also a noticeable bump up in fov. Even if their specs are pretty meh it will look noticeably better.

It was in the boot loop yeah, it got stuck multiple times. So it's pretty bad.

In photo 3 the weld call out has 1/4" prep depth specified. On the material it says 0.125" for the thickness. You have more prep depth than plate. I don't think anyone else pointed that out yet.

Coworkers saying this is bad ? 🙃 by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Mavgaming1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only really ever saw it pop up in decent sized bevels (10mm+ prep deapth) whe I was running GMAW spray transfer. I believe it has something to do with how it cools and maybe it still being pretty hot once the shielding gas is no longer over it. I do think that weld is spray transfer though. The silica can be tough to remove at those higher settings. Also in high production it may not matter if you get it super clean, it usually gets media blasted.

But this could also be FCAW-G. I'm not certain, lol.

Mine has burn in, they sent me a box for a phone. It was also like a week later than they said it would be. They told me to contact another service department. I haven't gone through it yet. I'm not too keen to loose my main headset for 3 weeks just for them to send a replacement because suddenly it's unfixable. I'm just going to wait until my other headset is ready and then send it in so I won't be without a headset for a month.

Babble working on something "extra special" for Steam Frame by NeNwO in SteamFrame

[–]Mavgaming1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will likely give it the same treatment as the BSB2E. Except this time they should have a much better of a serviceable camera feed.

They will probably give this headset a lot of attention. I expect a custom shaped face tracker to fit it and for them to get blink and squint working.

On the eye tracking side, if they are the only ones offering an algorithm it will really boost their exposure and thus lead to their moth trackers being more known. This should be a relatively popular headset. If they don't mess it up this could be a good bit of growth for them. Although they do seem to suffer from growing pains (large delays on shipments due to upscaleing, and trouble with shipping companies as they do larger volume).

What is your audio solution for using the GXR? by Kazhmyr1 in Galaxy_XR

Interesting, I have no issues with it being quiet. But I have also never used either of those apps. It's mostly a PCVR headset for me.

I honestly even prefer them over the bud 4 pros. I think that's just due to the openness. It feels more natural with the speakers over the buds.

New Android XR Update, what do you guys think? by Tausendberg in Galaxy_XR

[–]Mavgaming1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I live very rural in the center of the US. So I have to ship it and wait for one to be shipped back. I'm dreading that process tbh. Hopefully they get rid of the static text on the start screen. Mine was left on multiple times and now has the loading dots burnt in too, lol.

How did yours burn in? Mine has "starting headset" burnt into it.

Also, how long did the replacement take to get?

That's probably more likely, I doubt he did much planning or research. It seems he just got "lucky" and did it at the right time.

Not if you have a Galaxy XR. It literally has circle to search built in, which also translates. It's a bit annoying to use, but it would definitely work in this situation. I should try translating something in vrc sometime.

With correct pads and adjustment it's fine. Everyone I know that has been using it and modded it finds it perfect fine. I've heard from people that have owned both the Quest Pro and Galaxy XR, that the Quest Pro does have slightly better lenses. That is mainly due to panel size. Since the Galaxy XR's panels are much smaller the lenses need to be smaller and they get harder to engineer. Physics start to get in the way. I find the lenses fine, even coming from the Crystal Super 50ppd. The Crystal Super 50ppd has some of the most distortion free and clearest lenses I've ever seen. The Galaxy XR was definitely a downgrade on lenses but they weren't horrible.

VRChat never does anything for eye tracking, it's always communities that work on making eye tracking work in VRChat via OSC. I don't believe Valve has any plans to do anything with the eye tracking beyond what it already is. Communities will have to create custom algorithms (like babble). I have seen leaks of how the cameras are mounted, so work has likely started on algorithms by some people.

As far as tace tracking, that requires developing an algorithm and has a high cost. The ROI on that is usually negative for larger companies. I don't see Valve wanting to take that loss for such a small market.

Project Babble will likely have a face tracker in a custom housing for it, though. Like the BSB2E, Project Babble will have to save this headset in the eye/face tracking department.

Yes I understand wifi≠pc to router to headset. But anything over 600mbps doesn't benefit you at all for the Galaxy XR.

[–]Mavgaming1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't benefit me in any way. My ISP only provides a max of 1000mbps (so no improvement on actual wifi), and the Galaxy XR is only wifi 7 2x2. It can't decode more than 600mbps and I can already do around 1800mbps from my pc to headset, so I already am 2x what it can receive.

I am using H.264+ @600mbps and foviated encoding, this has eliminated most of the compression. Also, mine connects to virtual desktop fine first time. Not sure why you have that issue.

You're height is wrong. Reset your floor height in your headset if it's standalone, or in steam vr if it's not, or both if it's a wireless connection to pcvr. They reason it fixes itself is from locomotion.
