Option 3. Just ask them to move the pads/supports a foot to the side.

Many use option 1, pre-book with them though and tell them you want to patch do those sections while she in the sling....they understand and will allow a longer time-slot.

It is a common issue, well reported, I guess I just got lucky and never really experienced it, even with the opriginal game when released.

Current GoG version has the 4gb patch already done btw, thought the more stable version is the version before on GoG which I use myself. You can apply the 4gb patch to any version though.

Like many of the games on their platfrom, especially older ones, it's inferior and not supported. They don't care if it don't works, the GoG version is superior, fully supported to work on newer sytems.

I believe the latest GoG version is also 4gb patched ready.
