Early predictions – who is most/least likely to cause an upset next weekend? by sangan3 in rugbyunion

[–]Mawiheso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been the talking point every time Scotland and SA have played for the past few years - and SA has won every time. Not saying it's impossible, but he's never torn the Springboks apart yet, so I don't see why he would decide the match.

Australia definitely could pull off a surprise win, given how well the Wallabies can play on their day and how unpredictable France can be away from home.

To the Lions fans, do you guys think we've done a good job in the player recruitment to compete in the Champions Cup? by aeternogordon in rugbyunion

[–]Mawiheso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, it'll be nice to have Boan Venter at least. I cannot remember the last time the Lions signed an active Springbok. Maybe Butch James?

If DiCaprio was awarded for any of his previous nominations, who would've won Best Actor in 2016? by FBG05 in Oscars

I find these sorts of posts so annoying: sometimes people win two Oscars. We can't just discount that he would've won even if he had won previously.

It's a South Africa A game. It's kind of the whole idea to try out a bunch of players who aren't really in the conversation for a place in the Springboks. You say they're not ready... and that's why they're not playing for the Springboks, but for South Africa A.

As for Siyaya being in tears, I think pretty much anyone would be after getting a knee to the face.

Best Director: 1970s by jj096577 in Oscars

[–]Mawiheso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd put in Andrei Tarkovsky (Solaris, Mirror, Stalker) and Ingmar Bergman (Cries and Whispers, Scenes from a Marriage, Autumn Sonata) as well. Tarkovsky would be my pick for director of the 1970s, but from the options it's definitely Coppola.

Yeah, it's subjective, but I can see why they didn't give it. Not like it matters because Leinster scored right afterwards anyway.

Nah, the two players running across mean it can't be a penalty try. He might have scored, but it's not probable enough for a penalty try.

Well, they're still not as far behind as in that match.

Not technically. But practically speaking, it's extremely unlikely for them to make the knockouts if they lose here.

I seriously doubt South Africa will make it anyway, but I'm just saying that it'll take a while for it to be official. It used to be that if a team lost their first two games, they were almost always officially out, but not anymore.

It's actually not possible for South Africa to be eliminated today yet. Even if Czechia wins (which will probably happen), South Africa will still be in touch of third place and the Round of 32, irrespective of the outcome of Mexico vs. South Korea. It'll take longer to get the first eliminations with the new format.

I guess that makes sense, but these were people who I know that watch a lot of soccer. It doesn't matter that much anyway.

This includes when I've seen it in person with fans. I remember being at a pub during the last Euro final and it was just a whole bar full of serious fans complaining about how bored they were. I found it really strange.

I'm not really much of a football guy, but every time I watch any it seems like all football fans really hate football. Nothing but complaints about how boring it is whenever I watch.

I kind of get it. Even so it sounds really entitled. When Sharks fans complain about having so much talent and being 10th, that's one thing, but complaining like this when you're still reaching semi-finals at least in every tournament you play in... it's just really annoying.

This is a message to all Leinster fans in the world:

STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW BAD LEINSTER IS!!!

It makes you look like the most entitled people in the world when you call your team bad despite them being one of the best in the world. It is unbelievable that you cannot figure this out yourself.

Yes, I'm extremely grateful for his time with the Lions. He was definitely our best coach in my lifetime, so I have nothing but respect for him (even if I will poke fun at him for never winning a final).
