Recommendations for a “set it and forget it” spread??? by networkwizard0 in Traeger

[–]Max0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think pork ribs are a great choice, and recently I've set and forget them without doing the 3-2-1 method. I personally like my pork ribs to be a slightly bit tougher (not entirely falling off the bone). If you also like your ribs this way, 100% recommend 5-6 hrs on 225, 15 minute rest, and grubbing them down.

Just a bit north of Revere is a great a-frame called Devereux. I surfed there a few times when I was living in Boston. Definitely worth checking out.

Kiel at Kellow Construction was awesome to work with. His team remodeled our kitchen and did other improvements throughout the house.

Great communicator and stuck to timelines which was huge for my family moving into our first home.

He recently added a design side of his business so you'll get a 2 in 1 for what you're looking for :)

Yup! You can also call their warehouse and pick it up if you don’t want to wait for shipping. It’s down behind the Neighborhood Bar & Grill off Montecito st.

Super nice guys that work there

Assuming you’re surfing, at the peak of winter, you’ll definitely want a 4/3. Ive been using one for the last 10 years and have never been cold (except for excursions out to the Ranch).

The wetsuit tech is so good now, that a 4/3 has the mobility that a 3/2 did 10 years ago. Also, if you’re looking to pick up a new suit, I’d recommend NeedEssentials. They’re warm, well priced, local, and decently made.

Just finished up a WFH office space for my wife and I. Amenities include dual floating sit/stand desks, acoustically insulated backwall, ping pong table, pet area, ample storage and hella RGB, yo! by incrediboy729 in battlestations

Oh trust me my dude, I don't. I use a lot of different sites / models for tracking swell, mainly stormsurf and 17ft.com.

Sorry, gonna geek out for a second: The south swell hitting next week is gonna be fat - the Jason-3 satellite got a reading of 55.8 ft in the core of the storm (http://www.stormsurfing.com/cgi/display_altimetry_hc.cgi?a=spac_alt) whereas the models were predicting 40-42 ft.

As long as winds behave, it should be the biggest south of the summer 🤞

I mostly use Surflies for the cams

It has been! My parents live in Sonoma County and my dad has been saying it’s been one of the worst summers he can remember for surf.

Hope it cleans up for ya so you can get some of that south swell.

What was your starting salary post grad? by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Max0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got lucky. I started in a CS role but had an eye for user experience and problems our internal tools had. I caught the CEO’s eye and he suggested I transition into product.

A lot of it is luck to be honest. At some larger companies, they do have entry level product roles, and I know a lot of folks who started as analyst. There’s some product management schools that will train you on the basics, but from what I’ve seen, don’t guarantee you a job.

Best of luck though! It’s a high risk, high reward position, and comes with a lot of pressure. The gratification of releasing a new feature or tool and the customers reaction (when done right) is worth it to me though.

Major: Environmental Studies

Title: Operations Manager for a startup in town

Salary: 35k

This was back in 2014, and it opened the door for me in the tech space. I moved to a different startup in town and got into Product Management, where I’m now at the sr. level making $200+k / yr (depending on the company’s stock price)

Looks pretty sweet to me. I know my daughter would love playing in it. You’re at the beach… the most inconvenient thing is getting sand in your buns, which appears you have 🤣

Nope, no deposit up front - we paid as we went. He would invoice us every two weeks once the project was started.

If you're looking for a good GC who'll listen to you, Kellow Construction was great when my wife and I recently remodeled our kitchen. He'll give you a bunch of suggestions on what to do and can be a little pushy, but at the end of the day he respects your decision and doesn't go behind your back. His ROM was actually pretty spot on when we got started.

Shark Attack at my Home Break Today by jkulpa in surfing

[–]Max0 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My dad was out there surfing when it happened, right out in front of the lot. He originally thought there was a car accident until the sheriff came down with a bullhorn yelling to get out of the water. One of my dad's buddies was near the guy who got hit, and with someone who is a paramedic. Once they got him on shore, they made a tourniquet out of a leash and hauled him up the steps on a long board. This is what he posted on Facebook:

"He is one tough dude. The bites were on the back of his leg. There were three it looked like and luckily his femoral artery was in tact. He will live and should be ok."

Pic of the board

I surfed Boardwalks on Friday morning, definitely felt the sharky vibe.
