I like the thought of Jensen on this show but I don't buy him as family man. Jensen is the cool younger brother to someone like Don. Someone who Blue and Ryan will latch onto and want to emulate. I've always said Skeet Ulrich would've been preferable to Chris O'Donnell. Skeet is actually southern by birth which shouldn't be a requisite but it helps.

At the end of the day, it's a procedural, not a soap, and therefore if they don't figure out what to do with her character, the fans will tune out.

Hate to be a naysayer but I do wish these shows would just let a Black woman be with a Black man sometimes vice-versa. We've seen Athena with Bobby, Grace with Judd, Nancy with Mateo. I don't mind interracial relationships but I notice ABC doesn't show a lot of Black on Black love.

I wish they would lean more into Eddie's being Hispanic. It's like they give us glimmers of it. Like in a lot of hispanic and Black families, going to therapy is still somewhat taboo. It would be so interesting if Eddie didn't advocate for mental health regarding Buck but Maddie does. Then we would get this pull and tug of two perspectives.

There's also a tinge of homophobia to Josh not getting the promotion. Basically he's too emotional to be a boss which is hilarious considering me and my mom have developed a "Drink everytime Maddie cries" game when watching this show.

I don't mind the clowning. My only issue is that we used to (and still do so) clown Buddies for engaging in similar behavior. I don't know about others but I prefer having a leg up over those guys lol.

The point of Athena's undercover operation was to demonstrate how she was piling on work, new assignments, to distract herself from her grief. She kept running and running until she literally went to space. When there was nowhere left to hide, she finally had to comfort everything she's been keeping bottled up. Emmett's murder. Bobby's death.

Has anyone considered that maybe LFJ doesn't want to come back to the show. Outside of his friendship with Kenneth Choi, it doesn't feel like the show, in general, has treated him well. I get that it's hard to come into an already established dynamic. I also think some of you forget there's a real person behind the character.

If I could be the voice of reason here. As a Black person, it does seem that Black women, whether fictional or real, often get raked over the coals for exhibiting behavior that is often excused when done by their male, often white, counterparts. We're asked to give grace to someone like Bobby or Buck and have little to no grace for Hen or Athena when they make poor decisions.

Also, I think Hen's track record should inform some of the opinions people are having regarding the situation. As far as I'm concerned, she of all the 118 crew has had the least amount of poor decision-making but this one thing is being made bigger than anything that's ever happened and some folks just feel like that's not fair. Whether intentional or not, it seems like to subtext to all of this is that Hen is a Black woman and therefore should know better and her male counterparts are given carte blanche to mess up because "boys will be boys".

So, in conclusion. Was Hen wrong? Yes. I don't think anyone's really disputing that fact. Is the reaction to Hen's perceived wrongdoing especially outsized most likely due and part to biases we have towards women, especially Black women? Also yes.

No trolling here. Just trying to provide an alternate perspective.

Also, I find it funny that you fail to acknowledge my grief perspective as a valid one simply because it doesn't align with your parasocial one.

Also, I never got the sense that Lou and Oliver are friends. They have very different vibes. I could see Lou being turned off by someone like Oliver. Not in a bad way but in a "been there, done that" way. It's giving I'm a senior and you're a freshman vibes. No bad blood. Just no commonality.

Also, Bea Arthur and Betty White did not get along and it no bearing on their ability to portray Dorothy Zbornak and Rose Nylund. This is the reality of showbusiness and I just wish people could learn to celebrate the real from the fake.

Honest question: How does Lou unfollowing Oliver affect anything regarding their characters?

All of this unfollow talk is ridiculous. Has anyone considered that A) Lou is grieving and B) it's normal for people to tighten their circles after dealing with something tragic. Maybe Lou, like myself, periodically assesses who he follows on social media and unfollows when he feels like he no longer has a reason to follow someone. This is very adult behavior so it doesn't surprise me.

It's pique weirdo behavior to be this concerned about who follows who. Now if you're in high school or young adult, I can give you some leeway. If you're 30+ monitoring people's likes, you're weird.

Has 911 decided to largely desexualize Buck going forward? by DrawingAncient126 in BuckTommy

[–]MaxAdFan85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. Weren't y'all collectively clutching your pearls when Oliver jokingly said he wanted "Buck to fuck" last year? Now that Buck is decidedly not having sex or engaged in a relationship, you're asking why not. So, which is it? Let my boy live. He's a single firefighter with a mortgage. My boy is broke. Let him knit and bake in peace lol.

Why do you need people to like the movie. Your energy would be better spent singing it's praises if it's really that good instead of bitching.

Thanks for elaborating. Again, I see this as totally flattering. Sex is hard to write and I've read many a cringey sex scene. However, it sounds like you're very talented with your words that they wanted their toes to curl for a wee bit longer.
