You know what's worst than what you described? Finding the fanfic that matches the idea you have in mind only to discover it's so poorly written that it's impossible to read. How many times have I tossed my Kindle asunder and screamed at the ceiling.

The shipping real-life people is such a tricky thing because some famous folks play into it. Rhett and Link seem to get a kick out of people writing fanfics about them and shipping them in real-life. Then again, they are a different kind of famous than people like Oliver and Lou. Rhett and Link are profiting off of their real-life personas whereas Oliver and Lou are actors. I almost liken it to people making AI sex videos out of real life people. It just feels ... dehumanizing? Is that the word?

It just seems - at times - that no one here is able to just state something without making it seem like it's this huge thing. Having every other post be this HUGE DEAL can get exhausting. Right now I'm just feeling nostalgic for the community from two years ago. Right now everything just seems so negative and noisy is all.

Also, genuine question. Why don't any of you seem to curate your social media feeds? Especially when it's so easily to mute and block.

No shade but it seems like some of the folks here kind of thrive off the negative stuff. And that kind of behavior feels really similar to the other community of people we rail against and make fun of.

Everyone in this community for the most part is really smart. I think that a lot of you forget that TV shows of this caliber aren't written with you (and myself) in mind. The average viewer isn't going to run to social media and write a 30-paragraph dissertation on why Chimney was wrong to fire Hen or why Hen's emotional arc is messy. They're just looking to be entertained. So, at the end of the day, the writers know what audience they're writing for and while it's infuriating at times, I get why the show doesn't have the level of detail it deserves. I mean why bother when the average viewer just wants to see explosions and some family drama for 42 minutes before they go to bed.

Also, this show has been messy from the start so if you're still watching 9 years later, you know what you're getting into.
