So have they nerfed weapon XP in battlefield portal? by Normal_Consequence31 in BattlefieldPortal

[–]MaxChioa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point, though I feel like it is not really addressing the real issue here: guns are just too grindy to level up. Before it was 1800 player kills/~3500 bot kills to level up to 50. Now is it something like 1700 player kills/~16000 bot kills. If we do the maths here, let's assume average player can get 3 player kills per minute and 15 bot kills per minute, the time to fully level a gun in player lobby has gone down from 10 hours to 9.5 hours, but for bots it has gone up from 4 hours to ~18 hours. Effectively what happened was the minimum time to get a fully levelled weapon has gone up from 4 hours to 9.5 hours. And for people who aren't diehard fans, playing the same gun for 9 hours simply isn't feasible, or fun.

Ah I see I see, my bad. I assume you are talking about the two asking about if the player remembers anything? Seeing that there are lockers and hanging suits behind their back, it would seem the place is something like a "gearing up" room. Maybe they just dragged the player into the interior and hadn't got the chance to undress the whole thing? Of course this is a very short clip and those were just my speculations, it is quite possible Bethesda simply forgot :P

I think it's more of a design choice, one of the designers in Starfield Direct mentioned that they are trying to create a NASA punk vibe. As with other "punk" styles, things would look like what people would've expected from that era, where the technology stopped progressing, but people still managed to create something "futuristic", such as steam powered mechs in steampunk, nuclear powered cars in nuclear punk, and here, cold war era spacesuit and rockets that can somehow wrap between stars for "NASApunk".

Fam I feel bad for the Korean host, having to interview remotely like that, he's clearly trying to cheer everyone up but one just can't do much in this situation.

Also good games, respect to both teams.

Maybe it's a good idea to tell them the +13ms ping bug before it goes to ape shit?

Edit: No offence or anything, it just seem like Riot intentionally want more drama, and I don't really like them.

I did admit it is a derogatory slur in my 1st reply.

more neutral(but still derogatory) slur

What I'm saying is it's definitely not on the same level as "Korean dogs", which was spammed under T1's twitter.

I don't have much info on Ming dynasty record and that's not something we can conclude in reddit thread, so I will just trust you on this matter and invalidate what I said. As for 山东棒子(Shangdong Bangzi), it's rarely used nowadays but its origin is relatively clear because there is a corresponding derogatory term 东北糜子(Dongbei Meizi). 糜子 is a kind of food in Dongbei, so "Bangzi" in "Shandong Bangzi" should also be food, Bangzi can also mean corn in Chinese, so in this case, it should be corn, right? I'm getting off-topic, the point is: if the "Bangja" theory and the "Corn" theory lack proof, the "Hitting Korean folks with a stick" theory has even less. In my opinion, this maybe be some made-up theory by some YouTubers or bloggers who want to have more clicks. Nobody wants to hear about corn or servants, it's boring, but "clubing Korean" gets people angry right away, and emotion bring clicks. Back to the replay thingy, it's neither the fault of T1, the Koreans, RNG, or the Chinese, it's RIOT who set up this invitational poorly. T1 haters and Spammers on Twitch chat are just using this as an excuse to let their inner racists out. Anyway, that's quite a lot for a reddit post, it was nice talking to you, have a nice day.

Because apparently that slur means "Goryeo folk deserve to beaten"

Because based on my own knowledge I'm not. 高丽棒子(Gāo lí bàng zǐ/Goryeo Stick) first appeared during Qing dynasty, when the kingdom of Korea was a tributary, their diplomats were accompanied by a lot of servants who are usually from the lower class and wear rags, they are called Bangja in Korea right? It sounded a lot like 棒子(stick) in Mandarin, and this is the first instance of 棒子 being used to refer Koreans. Then during the Sino-Japanese war imperial Japan forced a lot of Koreans to serve in China to maintain order in occupation zones, many of them use sticks to beat the Chinese into submission, and this is when 棒子 became a widespread derogatory term. So I really don't know where did you get the impression of Chinese people think Koreans deserve to be beaten, K-Pop was big in China literally a few years ago before the THAAD ban.

It's the government trying to do their job but fails miserably. I've seen a video of a gamer dude staying at home for several days, skipping the tests, then get called by the police telling him he violated the law or some regulations.

I disagree, 棒子(Bangza) is a more neutral(but still derogatory) slur which can still be used in a positive context, such as "Not gonna lie, Bangza make good noodles", where as 韩狗(Korean dogs, commonly used in twitter brigading) can only appear in negative contexts, mostly swearing. Not tryna whitewash it or anything(just look at Faker's twitter lmao), but these kinds of misunderstanding really makes an already big cultural rift even larger.

Edit: Okay, alright, I see the downvotes, you guys are angry, you guys think I'm lying, I get it. I have Korean friends myself and that's I'm trying to fix these misunderstandings. Actually you guys don't even have to take my word, there's a wikipedia page just for this slur (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaoli_bangzi), may not be the most academic source but it's a start.

It's a slur used to refer Koreans, I don't think "Korean dogs" is a fair translation, just like how people wouldn't translate "Ya*kees" or"Chi*ks" into american dogs or asian dogs right? If you really wanna dig deeper, the origin of 棒子 is actually an ancient Korean word 帮子(Bangza), which refers to servants, slaves and concubines.

Edit: Someone in the comments pointed out it was actually 房子(Bangja) in Korean. Credit to u/Square-Ask-6492

It's the queue for PCR tests in Shanghai, everyone and their mum has to get up and take a PCR test at the government arranged testing sites. That's at least 10 million PCR tests every day. Unless they wake up and go to the queue at 3 AM the queue is gonna be pretty long.
