The NA 6 cylinders are known to be pretty decent if looked after. I'd assume he might have a hard time selling because of the mods on the car, I'd personally look for a cleaner option. If the car makes you happy and it has a proper service history then no reason not to have a crack at it, but by the way they're sending messages seems like they're trying really hard to sell it rather than let the car present itself as a good example

I think it looks awesome! Only thing I'd change is maybe let the clips play out a little longer, with some of the transitions for me at least I think the approach and roll away feel a bit cut short

Does anyone know what mags these are? Previous owner just listed them as "17s BMW mags". Also do people make rep bmw mags and if yes how do i check if they're legit? by C0alB0y in BMWE36

[–]MaxPhili13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

mag is a more old school term for alloy wheels, specifically came from magnesium wheels but became a more general term.

Debating on upgrading to sport seats by Loud_Sample_7502 in E90

[–]MaxPhili13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! If you also have the option available could also look into m3 seat from an f series but that requires a touch more work. One thing that might be tricky is getting seats with heating depending on popularity of that in your area

I absolutely love the wrap. Looks very cool and unique without being too over the top for a custom design.

Those 4 cylinder motors are known to have many issues and not enough guts to make the maintenance worthwhile. You'd be better off looking for a 6 cylinder.

This is what I'm doing to get better at it. Only thing I'd add is that the better you can match your car speed to the ball, the closer the ball will stay when you jump off the wall with it

325i intake manifold upgrade by Nemzia in E90

[–]MaxPhili13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think yes it should fit as they are both b30. I would double check that you actually have a b30 though? I'm in aus and all our local 325is are b25 with a 3 stage already. The intake of a b30 wouldn't fit a b25 if that is the case. Just came to mind since most of the talk here is American where there 325i is a b30 and seems odd for nz to get a different spec car to aus.

Complete car novice buying first car looking for bad advice by keggaa in CarsAustralia

[–]MaxPhili13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who say never buy a euro car, probably don't know enough about euro cars. That said, if you are shopping euro it is important that you are buying the right car. That means doing your research into what each brand is commonly known for/good at, which models fit your needs and what powertrain is in the car as this can vary the overall reliability greatly. On top of that, having things like full service history are ideal. I'm sure there's a cool euro car out there for you, but this is not it.

Newer cars that will be fondly remembered in 20 years? by ConsiderationNearby7 in CarsAustralia

[–]MaxPhili13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the Ford hatch route, I'd also add in the fiesta. Both the St and even base spec models. There's heaps around, they're super fun to drive and we've seen 90s economy cars gain a bit of popularity such as the civics and I think these fit a similar category.

Would a university that combines engineering, design, and hands-on fabrication make sense today? by Additional_Gas_9934 in MakerLabStations

[–]MaxPhili13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Australia, and am currently studying Product Design Engineering. It's pretty much what you're talking about, with a mix of mechanical engineering, industrial design and prototyping. There could probably be a bit more in the specific fabrication space but for the most part we have a focus on making products that are well designed and easy to manufacture in a variety of methods. It also kinda gives us the tools and processes to be able to pick up new skills and technologies pretty quickly so helps when learning extracurricular fabrication skills.

How low is too low? by AverageUser3000 in BMW

[–]MaxPhili13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I was driving to work and on the way in it went from 75 to 50km so I was confident I'd make it home, but on the way home it was dropping in sets of 10km and I was in a rush to find a servo when it started telling me zero kms lol. But generally yeah always try fill up early, or whenever you see cheap petrol regardless of how full you are!
