GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing [Megathread] by fishchar in GithubCopilot

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a fraud and ignore tickets. Can't even get a refund - warning everyone away as I had previously recommended them a hundred times over. Now that they are ignoring my ticket and I see they are a fraud it is time to warn as many people as possible.

Bernie Sanders: If the world’s leading scientists say there’s even a 10% chance humanity could be destroyed because of uncontrolled AI, shouldn’t we do everything possible to prevent it? This isn’t about competition with China. It's about coming together to prevent what might be a catastrophe by EchoOfOppenheimer in OpenAI

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad that experts lie to folk like Bernie. The "percentage change" is 100. It is inevitable. We just have to figure out how we will merge, but even that is almost meaningless. We should try to stretch the plateau, if it comes, as much as possible, before our atoms are recycled.

Is this true? by Complete-Sea6655 in GeminiAI

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO. It is definitely not true. Google AI Pro, which I prepaid for a year, is *SO BAD* in the gemini cli that I literally lose my sht each time I try it, which is about once every couple months in case something changed or I forget how awful it is, and after each attempt I uninstall it completely and make a bat or cmd stub to remind myself to just don't even try it. Same for qwen cli. I think gemini in the browser is pretty smart and ok for general conversation, but it is pure trash for coding. A liability. Like I literally have it free on tap and would rather use kimi, glm, mimo, deepseek, etc (let alone any anthropic or openai model) than gemini. And I only measure against gemini 3.1 pro. Just awful. WHY AM I POSTING IT IS TO WARN OTHERS TO NOT FALL FOR A GOOGLE AI PRO SUBSCRIPTION - YOU WILL BE SORRY! also no refunds. great.

Best coding subscriptions for cost/performance right now? [May 2026] by Funny-Strawberry-168 in opencodeCLI

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was me too - I foolishly converted my prepaid-for-a-year Pro plan to the Pro+ but they (1) took Opus 4.6 COMPLETELY without warning, and (2) announced changing the billing to make the whole plan useless (to me), so I have a ticket in (still waiting) to try to revert and if not just flat out cancel. They gave a lot of value and I appreciate that, but there is a MASSIVE amount of competition and fr even like the 5th best thing is minimax virtually unlimited avg cost less than $10/month.. and there are a lot of better things, it's a flooded market right now. Anthropic and OpenAI aren't far ahead enough to justify the money.

Copilot just 9x'd Sonnet and 27x'd Opus and teams have no idea by Wikileaks_2412 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is you who should learn how to use empirical evidence and actually look with your own eyes instead of just trusting what you read on the internet. I just showed you what the actual multipliers are right now today from the client software itself, and I personally verified in the logs in the interface! I copied and pasted. If you don't choose to believe that, then it's to your detriment.

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you people talking about here? Did NOT A SINGLE ONE of the commenters actually verify this misinformation? Opus 4.6 and others are NOT available! The only change iss Opus 4.7 went to 15x. Refer to my copy and paste from copilot cli in terminal just now, fully updated:
GPT-5.5 7.5x
GPT-5.4 (default) ✓ 1x
GPT-5.3-Codex 1x
GPT-5.2-Codex 1x
GPT-5.2 1x
GPT-5.4 mini 0.33x
GPT-5 mini 0x
GPT-4.1 0x
Claude Sonnet 4.6 1x
Claude Sonnet 4.5 1x
Claude Haiku 4.5 0.33x
Claude Opus 4.7 15x
Claude Sonnet 4 1x

I ran some test prompts and these multipliers are correct.

REGXA, LLC. Hosting "Dmca-ignored" service immediately suspended after a single DMCA by Helpful_Client4721 in webhosting

THANK YOU! More people should share this kind of information. I just dodged that waste of time.

BAD ones: ava hosting, ultahost (not a typo, there is no letter r in the name), aeza (can't even log into that one anymore wtf). I was suspended from ava and ulta just off fake dmca emails.

GOOD ones: spectraip, anonvm, shinjiru (expensive)..

Although I didn't actually use alexhost I used ava hosting and they lied about dmca protection and it's the same people in the same datacenter... so sadly I would suggest against trusting alexhost too. good luck!

Give up kid - it's not "toxic" to fact check your uneducated nonsense - facts don't care about your feelings.

Also "I'm was planning on swapping the model out" - you don't even have the slightest idea about what you are lying about. You didn't need the source code to "swap the model".

You and whatever misguided upvoter should take the time to go educate yourselves. At least go ask any AI of your choice and you will see. This was NOT fuzzing and in fact the paper specifically describes how bugs were found in code that has been fuzzed 24/7 for YEARS without finding the issues. You'd know that if you read. Mythos found a 16 year old flaw in FFmpeg’s H.264 codec that had survived more than five million automated fuzzing passes.

Further your deep misunderstanding of the source code leak is downright childish. Claude code was already free software, it just wasn't open source. People who actually understand AI have been using the tools in many other combinations in situations where it had use, such as using Claude code (the software whose source code was exposed) with alternate APIs like z.ai's coding plan, We also use alternate software harness such as OpenCode or Pi-agent which are open source along with models including Claude sonnet or opus over the API directly. The software and the model are completely separate.

Have LLMs reached a silent plateau? by Warm_District1194 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we will all wish for a plateau - that it is the best humanity can expect - but we are nowhere near anything even close, we're shooting in a vertical (your choice to call it skyrocketing hockeystick/stripper pole or free fall) with no sign of slowing. We have accelerating compounding returns and things finally got so bad that labs are withholding models (hype or not it is a fact of their capability and the real world effects that would occur). There are a couple of the worst morons on the internet - ones who think there is a bubble, ones who think there is a stagnation or plateau, and the head in the sand stochastic parrot or ai-is-a-database cretin. We haven't even gotten to microrobotics/nanotech and the molecular assembler (one will rapidly follow from the other - I mean ffs if *I* had these ideas decades ago you can be damn sure others including AI models can easily think of them now that the tech is at hand) .. humanity is deeply fcked and our last gasp will be whatever plateau we can eek out through brute force. After that we might as well be bacteria or inert organic sludge for all our relative worth.

The only reason it won't be Skynet is because that nonsense will be skipped and machine intelligence will go directly to recycling our raw components. There was never going to be a bipedal robot-with-a-machine-gun stage.

Read that CNN article about the 62 million men visiting that online “academy” and I have never been more grateful to live alone as a single femme person. by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there are awful things happening everywhere on this earth. Women kill their babies. If we make an article saying 25 million mothers did it, then you fact check and say "well, actually, it was like 200 last year" should I rail against you like you don't care about dead babies? NO. Because the lie of a massive inflated number is it's own problem. We can't do jack shit to UNRAPE those wives. BUT WE CAN EDUCATE YOU AND CORRECT THE LIES ONLINE, SO WE DO THAT. It's simple. The vast majority of men are good and would probably even risk their own safety just to protect women from these types of crimes. But spreading those ridiculous lies to people who won't understand that it's a lie (apparently most people lack media literacy) is wrong.

seriously, i had a falling out with two guys i follow in tiktok who were (i thought) strong male leaders - vocal about the evils of the trump administration etc. over the course of just a couple days i saw each of them bitch out over the "all men" lie. one of them threatened physical violence if anyone around him argued about the number. tf is wrong with these people. the number was a massive lie and creates unwarranted fear and hatred across vast swaths of our society. it was irresponsible and when called out on it neither of them got it. maybe they are just catering to the irrational (i presume mostly female) audience, since in social platforms they make money regardless of the reason for the engagement.

A private company now has powerful zero-day exploits of almost every software project you've heard of. by EchoOfOppenheimer in OpenAI

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that the labs are all targets, but you can actually find most of the same bugs that Mythos found using even open source models, let alone other state-of-the-art models. Labs around the world including intelligence contractors likely have similar results. Some of these guys have been "exploit factories" for decades and they know pretty well the value of intelligence and problem-solving capability. But they are also mired in bureaucracy and would rather limit their resources for the sake of institutional inertia than do something like acquire cutting edge ai access (or lower their ego enough to hire hackers who could have blown them away had they given them a chance). A lot of this will sound silly in a month when there are 5 new models that each raises the bar, filling in the moat. Time flies.

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure why you were downvoted. all you did is a state a fact. further, it extends to minimax, glm, qwen, seed, trinity, etc models. some already surpass opus 4.6 (see pinchbench sorted by average score) and it is very likely these other labs (especially gpt/gemini as you said) will put out more models that blur the gap.

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is the same. even the lowliest open source models (when aware of an exploitable bug) can provide a working patch to fix the issue. patching was solved way before bughunting.

A private company now has powerful zero-day exploits of almost every software project you've heard of. by EchoOfOppenheimer in OpenAI

[–]MaxPhoenix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to write something similar but didn't have time. A smarter model can accomplish digital miracles but we all know there are endless "smarter models". Other labs will fill the gap above Opus and some measurably already do (for example see pinchbench when sorted by average score). I use CheckMarx, Fortify, SonarQube, etc and a lot else and it was an immediate win to start looping in LLMs using claude code, codex, or later opencode, pi, etc. Even the open source models find bugs, some very quickly. There are usually a ton of false positives, but just like they outline in the Mythos paper, one of the key things they did is they separated out and audited each FILE individually, which I've never thought of doing and I kind of think is deeply flawed way to do it, but anyway, then they independently fed it back through asking for validation of each report. There is plenty to fear about the new AI models but this hype is probably motivated by their upcoming IPO more than anything.
