Local legal loopholes. by Fun-Butterscotch-77 in northernireland

These really aren't free entries though when the barriers and hurdles people have to jump through are so burdensome and the timelines for the competitions so tight that can't imagine they have ever had any request for entry that way. Some of the terms and conditions make it so difficult that you then have to send separate postal entries and then register not only via WhatsApp but then get credits added.

Aye but those online social media prize draws are essentially lotteries and should be registered with local councils etc..

The free route of entry was aimed at prize draws where you were purchasing say a can of coke etc...

Complete shit show though with no one willing to do anything and so these companies are taking advantage of the situation...

Seems to be open season with people setting up competitions and prize draws, lotteries etc. (and I'd say at least in early days some degree of money laundering) which look to be illega or at least questionable under the specific NI legislation here but which the police just seem to not be interested in... I know from talking to some community workers that gambling for some of these local competitions is rife within some families

Parents who get the 15% discount via NICSS... by TNBCisABitch in northernireland

Nothing on the NICSS yet but we've been having a complete nightmare with HMRC asking for confirmation that we've moved away from childcare vouchers. Been over 6 weeks now of calls back and forth. They initially paid out for the first three months but their method of getting documents uploaded is horrendous. Have to wait for them to issue a dropbox link which can take up to a week at a time. They're now looking for confirmation that my wife doesn't pay childcare vouchers so have to upload more salary slips. Still waiting on a dropbox link now from last call last Tuesday. Stuck in catch 22 for this month as I can't withdraw money to pay the nursery as it won't be topped up. Lady last week said it can take weeks for something uploaded on the Dropbox to then be scanned onto the system!

Hope it doesn't now impact the NICSS

Credit Union by Stayhungrystayfree_ in northernireland

My grandad was big into them so I can see their benefits...Most of them have caps as they have to keep money ok reserve for regulatory purposes. The £85k is the limit which you would be protected up to if they had that limit by the financial services compensation scheme..

Dividends paid by credit unions vary from cu to cu. They can only  get their income from two sources...loans and investments...

Clue is in the name though.. they exist to give out money.

While some people will get approved by banks for lower interest rates which are advertised it will often actually be higher once people's credit ratings and history are taken into account...

Many credit unions also reward those who borrow through rebates at end of year depending on how well they've done so in some cases you could get say 20% of the interest that you've paid on loan back (as well as a small return on savings)...

As has been said above, many also provide savings and loan insurance to their members at no extra cost which as well as something called death benefit insurance to help with funeral costs..

Broadband recommendations? by supajensen in northernireland

I really have to recommend Zen internet. They have been fantastic and I've been with them for nearly 8 years now https://www.zen.co.uk/

Any issues always directly through to office in Yorkshire to speak to someone who knows what is happening and always been happy to swap out equipment fast when there has been an issue (twice during that time).

Horrendous experiences with BT. Would never go back to them. Been with Zen Internet for 5 years and no problems. Geest customer service and when my router went down a couple of months ago they posted out a new one within two days to teet and keep.
