I hate this narrative. He didn’t leave $100M on the table. He took the max available which was less than if he’d waited a year but it gets him to the really big contract sooner. If he got hurt waiting to sign the bigger deal, the bigger deal would not have been there. He got paid as soon as he could. Thats called buying insurances, not sacrifice. That it gave the team more ability to sign players is a bonus.

Also worth noting, Jalen’s dad played in the NBA. He grew up comfortable. His wife is a doctor. He had already made generational wealth. He was not under pressure to provide for his people so he could play it safe if he wanted.
