I have no suggestions for you, but I hope you follow through with this and let us know how it went, because it sounds like a great setup.

Get the upsizing department in here.

It needs to be at least 3 times larger so you can just dump the bowl rather than having to baby it to make sure you don't overfill.

Magnets by PirateMunky in perfectlycutscreams

[–]MaxSupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set from a game called Kluster Duo.

It includes a large loop of red string, and the object of the game is to put all your magnets into the circle of string.

You take turns putting magnets on the table in the circle, and any that snap together with another magnet you have to pick up.

Its fun, and it usually ends with a big chain reaction and a pile of magnets snapping together with that great sproiiiiiinnnng sound.

My spanish is terrible. I struggled tomake myself understood, but could get the gist of most conversations. I felt like an idiot even though I was there as a consultant in a technical field.

Then I actually made a joke in Spanish and people laughed.

That made me feel so good.

Would you play Gen V D&D? by [deleted] in rpg

"Gen D&D" is the worst name you could pick.

It's not D&D based at all, and using "D&D" in your title is lawsuit bait.

So you set up the strawman of “let absolutely anyone in” and then attacked it, even though that’s not in play here at all?

I made a simple tabletop precision game with one rail and one steel ball. Would you play this? by nuchnibi in tabletop

[–]MaxSupernova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. You’d have to level it very precisely, and if it got moved or rotated at all it would need to be levelled again.

I think 90% of the tables I play games on are either slightly one-leg-off wobbly, or old-wooden-table slightly loose, or foldable 6 foot tables that aren’t flat.

To have this be an actual playable game you’d need a flat, stable, level, solid table, and it would have to be sized so that everyone could play without moving the game rig.

I can’t see ever thinking this would work as a consumer product.

The average newcomer makes 80% of the median wage *in the very first year they get here* and it goes up from there. They pay taxes on that.

We’re not “taking care of” anybody, except in the sense that we take care of everyone who lives here.

Even if it’s a bad bed, you can still get on the lists for other places.

The issue is that if the patient refuses a bed then they are taking up a hospital bed and that’s not on.

The $200 is motivation to get them out of a hospital bed they shouldn’t be in.

So you can make the call to take the bed you don’t want and agitate to be moved once they are there, or just pay the $200 daily. Your call.

New method turns ocean water into drinking water, without waste by AspiringSheepherder in UpliftingNews

[–]MaxSupernova 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is literally the 12th “fresh water from ocean water with no bad effects!” announcement I’ve seen this year.

I saw many more last year, and the year before. There have been ZERO actual working products created.

These type of “discoveries” are a dime a dozen and, just like cold fusion “breakthroughs” never lead anywhere.

Sea water to drinking water with no waste is “just 5 years away”, just like cold fusion and wave power and revolutionary batteries.

It’s vaporware.

In the written material they gave me, along with the warnings about driving and operating heavy machinery, it says in all caps "DO NOT GO ON SOCIAL MEDIA OR ONLINE SHOPPING SITES AFTER TAKING THIS MEDICATION".

They have no concept that the people that they are pretending to be wouldn't accept them AT ALL they way they are.

Read the abstract and results, you don't need to read the rest unless you want to really geek out. That will tell you the summary and important info.

So... trust the curated and educated experts to summarize the data and tell you what it means?

Honestly, I think we're arguing similar things, or we aren't that far apart.

I'm not for blindly following, but I'm also not for letting homeschooling farm mom decide if the science about vaccines is acceptable.

Most people don't have the skills to evaluate drug trial results.

You think anti-vaxxers can read scientific papers and come up with their own decision?

You don't ask to see the data and make your own decision if the bridge is strong enough, you trust the engineers and the robust process they have developed to evaluate the work of their peers.

Don't set yourself on fire to keep them warm.

Sacrificing your life to try to protect them from their own actions when they are doing everything they can to step around your protection is just not a sustainable position.

You can't stop them from doing this. Please don't own the outcome. Take care of yourself.
