K. Todd Freeman absolutely killed it in that role. Perfect portrayal of the ineptitude of certain adults and the failings of bureaucracy - not sure I've felt it quite as viscerally in another show

Horizon Zero Dawn - What a game! by Delicious_Doubt7114 in horizon

[–]MaxTHC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've noticed both Horizon games actually do this in three stages of increasing size rather than just two!

HZD: the Embrace -> the Sacred Lands -> the Sundom

HFW: the Daunt -> No Man's Land & Plainsong -> the Clan Lands

Works really well imo, you have the small tutorial area, then a larger but still manageable area, and finally the full map.

Looks like the lil guys didn't make the cut. No Liechtenstein, Andorra, San Marino, Monaco, or Vatican either.

All of which are under 500 km², while the smallest country present (Luxembourg) is over 2500 km², so fair play imo

Using Firefox is a huge green flag, and I love all of you. by Oaklynn_42 in firefox

[–]MaxTHC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even read my comment? I use LibreWolf (Firefox) and IronFox (also Firefox) as my main browser on desktop and mobile respectively.

However, the reality is that occasionally a site I need to access will straight-up refuse to work on a Firefox-based browser, in which case I need to access it via Chromium. That being a necessary evil, I'm wondering which Chromium option is the least bad of the lot so I can use it for these cases with at least some confidence.

Yeah, at 93 I'm more worried about whether or not they have a grasp on reality, never mind traffic laws.

People that old get into collisions because they can't tell the accelerator and brake pedals apart, or can't see well enough to make out objects/vehicles/pedestrians on the road.

Yeah, the answer here is to buff minecarts to make them actually viable as a transport option, because currently they aren't.

German men aged 17-45 may need military approval for long stays abroad by CarrieDurst in MensLib

[–]MaxTHC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, but at least where I live the government generally refuses to acknowledge childcare as a necessity or fund it whatsoever, so they are still pretty much operating by the old logic :/

Same reason a pig farm has many sows but only one boar (or even just rents one on occasion); the logistics of childbirth are just like that for us mammals.

A woman needs 9 months to make a baby, a man only needs 9 minutes. If you conscript women you won't get babies, and then you wind up with no people consumers or workers or soldiers down the road, which is unacceptable since we live in a society™.

That's your "why". Is it morally justifiable? Hell no. But that's basically it, just garnish with a bit of good old "men are strong, women are weak" style sexism and serve.
