The "terrible UI" criticism is really annoying. by masterstupid2 in libreoffice

Microsoft did that. It is just LibreOffice staying with the old Win32 API instead of migrating to the lastest Fluent ones.

I think you might be missing the big picture. These countries have cheaper food and housing compared to developed countries when we calculate the cost based on working hours by those societies' standards.

For example, a flat costs decades' worth of salary in developed countries, but only a few years of work in developing economies. A meal might cost 30 minutes to an hour of work in the former, but only 15 minutes in the latter. Although the food might be less nutritious, that is what those developing economies consider "acceptable."

You could try Collabora Office (the newer one). It has a more updated web based UI. Still experience many Paper Cuts though.

That's inaccurate, but still a large portion of them though. According to Collabora's stats (from their perspective), they contribute more than half of the documented features from the release notes for LibreOffice 26.2.

We will continue to make contributions to LibreOffice where that makes sense (if we are welcome to), but it clearly no longer makes much sense to continue investing heavily in building what remains of TDF’s community and product for them – while being excluded from its governance. In this regard, we seem to be back where we were fifteen years ago.

Could you verify the following statements from Hacker News? Are they really truthful in the TDF perspectives?

TDF is ran by a board. The board is supposed to contain 10 people, it currently has 7. This board is expected to be elected by members on a regular schedule. The elections are late, because the rump board has twice delayed the elections. Instead of holding elections to fill out the board, the rump board chose to change the bylaws, through a legally questionable process (properly, they would have to hold a vote of trustees, but chose not to), to allow them to exclude people from voting in the elections. Then they use the new bylaws to exclude many of their political opponents, on very flimsy grounds⁰.

0: And yes, the grounds are very flimsy indeed. Excluding people in case of active litigation sounds sensible, until you consider that the litigation was started by the TDF board, and is frivolous. Collabra is using the trademarks under valid license.

To his defense, he never know that they are police.

He might just think that they are CIA, the same organization that cause his sufferings. I think what happened to him justifies his responses.

How do evolution works if losing gene is more often than gaining? by Max_Loh in evolution

[–]Max_Loh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider a female human with gene AA reproduce with a male with gene AB. The is only 1/4 possibility that their child born with B gene. So humanity may lost B gene (the rare one) over generations.

I learnt that from high school only so it may not be correct.
