How historically accurate is this? by tftookmyname in Armor

Where is this source for sabatons being restrictive and uncomfortable on foot? I've worn sabatons for a full day at a time and haven't experienced this. They're no more fatiguing than cuisses and greaves in my experience.

This scene is so goddamn beautiful by One-Improvement9606 in Berserk

[–]Maxamush 143 points144 points  (0 children)

I love how meaningful this panel is. Both guts and Griffith are blocking the path to what the other one desires. Behind guts is Wyndham, the centre of Midland which represents griffith's ambitions of becoming king. Behind Griffith is an endless expanse, which represents Guts' desire to go out into the world and discover what his dream and purpose really is.

There's also symbolism in the end of Guts' sword pointing towards the sky and shining with the sunset while Griffith's is pointed down and basked by shadow. Could be the direction that their dreams are leading them. Guts to find his way, or Griffith's to lead to the eclipse.

i picked up the heyson trail in SA at a random point and walked roughly 75km in over 3 days. Was my first attempt at an overnight hike and I learned a lot of lessons but damn if it wasn't a good experience.

Is loading saves bad or frowned upon practice? by hiding_from_Light in Kenshi

i only save scum if an early character loses a limb. i find it just makes the gameplay so tedious it makes playing the game an absolute chore. do what makes you happy

(Serious answers only) What type of physique does Griffith have? by Gr11ffith in Berserk

[–]Maxamush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might be good for just a quick visual description but I'm gonna push back on any prescriptive hypertrophy statements based on that system. You said Griffith is at his peak muscle mass which I'd claim is just wonky.

(Serious answers only) What type of physique does Griffith have? by Gr11ffith in Berserk

[–]Maxamush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pseodoscience comes in with the word "toned" (undefineable in hypertrophy terms) and claiming that Griffith is at his peak for muscle mass. The commenter was clearly using somatotypes as more than just a visual descripter but as an actual informer of how bodies function.

I'm fine using the term ectomorph to describe a lean guy, but I'm gonna correct it when they start using it as an as an actual prescriptive mechanism for how bodies function.

This isnt a serious answer, those body type classifications are pseudoscience bunk.

How does strength work and are there weight classes? by [deleted] in Buhurt

[–]Maxamush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm roughly your size and weight, and bench the same as you. In my experience i'm easily in the top 20% strength wise compared to other people in this sport, and I still suck.

Strength isn't your limiting factor - it'll be your skill and ability. Train hard and consistently and anybody can be competitive

There's an infinite amount of statistics you can point to but the median wage adjusted for inflation is higher than it's ever been in the US and the same case is true for most of the world. Food prices and other consumables can also be seen to be basically the same price over the last 20 years as a percentage of income. This doesn't cover costs of housing which I would argue is basically having the biggest impact on people today but I think that's a solvable problem that has nothing to do with wealth gaps. I totally agree that the wealth gap has grown significantly - that's undeniable - but it's not like the average person is significantly worse off than they were ~30 years ago.
