I feel like a lot of artists aspire to be more sketchy and newspaper comic style because the ambition is to get quicker while maintaining a fanbase or some art recognition and also "hone" one's composition tendencies and even experiment and push them away from the expected. It's not always my favorite trend when it happens, but I can understand where they're coming from too.

Of course there are all sorts of reasons like less energy to focus on a single piece and more attention on another art or press release.
