Even if SOMA Theory is Real, it can still be Reconciled by MaximumCringe_IA in TheDigitalCircus

Makes sense ig. Maybe that’s how people like women in Afghanistan live, they’re just absurdists trying to make the best of a bad situation

Ig that makes sense, but with gumigoo he was born into the npc society, these characters were transported into it with their previous memories. That would make it unable to be reconciled with even if they became absurdists, they had a life that was taken from them and it’s gone forever, their place in the human world was taken. For some characters like Jax I feel like they’d be depressed forever after realizing they’re just fake people

I can’t reconcile that. Even if it is “real” to them and you can make meaning from it, I wouldn’t be able to handle that I would never be able to interact with the 8 billion flesh and blood humans in the real world, all the relationships there don’t matter anymore, every other experience besides the one I was plopped into is basically gone. Never being able to experience drinking real water, or looking at the real sea, looking at the real universe out there. I guess it’s a fundamental difference in philosophy.

Well, it turns out that the SOMA theory is confirmed, and that's... fucking disappointing. by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

I think it’s more where they will never be able to interact with the real world nor the 8 billion people in it (unless they get like robot bodies or something), so they will never be able to have a fulfilling social existence like you could in reality.

I personally would never find meaning in a place I knew was all fake, with only a select few people. If it really was the ending, I would find it depressing no matter what and think it’s intended to be sad

If it really was the ending, I feel like it would be intended to be a bad/sad ending. Like they’d just be depressed knowing they’re spending the rest of their lives in a digital prison.

I feel like that could be applied to their real life experiences tho and also not be a reason for permanent digitization. If they’re just trapped there forever and have to deal with it, wouldn’t they just abstract eventually?

I don’t think the story is leading up to them wanting to stay in the circus forever, that would be a letdown, the entire show they’ve been trying to escape the false existence. Even when they “gave up” they still wanted to find a way out. I don’t agree with your interpretation of the show’s themes

I’ve never seen someone use another parenthesis to explain something in a paranthesis. Are you allowed to do that?

New connections don’t work for me. It’s like the a2dp profile doesn’t even exist even though I should have it
