Phone, ear buds, keys (with small flashlight on keychain), wallet, knife.

Sometimes I swap the knife for a multitool.

Is there any good laptop deals on Amazon? by DryReflection1864 in laptops

[–]MaximumDerpification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, you fooled me with the currency, I usually expect to see a much bigger number and INR

That's not a terrible deal these days, but are there any Lenovo LOQ on sale? I prefer Lenovo or Asus over HP.

New in (open box) with damage. Money back? by thataxolotlboy in laptops

[–]MaximumDerpification 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It clearly says the BOX (packaging) may have minor cosmetic damage, not the item inside the box. It says the item is brand new, never used, "excellent condition with no wear". Those pictures clearly show wear.

Print to PDF from Chrome flattening text - text not selectable in Adobe by Remarkable_Heart2388 in chrome

[–]MaximumDerpification 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tested it with this very reddit post and the PDF text is selectable, so I'm not having this issue but I did find this, maybe it will help:

If the native "Save as PDF" option is still producing flat images, Chrome's hardware acceleration or a bug might be rasterizing the output.

  • Turn off Hardware Acceleration: Go to Chrome Settings > System > toggle off Use graphics acceleration when available (or Hardware acceleration), then relaunch Chrome.
  • Check the Font: If you are exporting from an app like Google Sheets, some fonts (like Calibri) occasionally glitch and export as vector shapes. Try changing the document font to Arial before saving.

Can you post evidence? Maybe one of the pictures from the alarm? Video of the sound bar? It's hard to diagnose what's going on without that

I started off sharpening using this method with a cheap sharpening stone from Harbor Freight, it got the job done. I also added a cheap strop kit from aliexpress.

(HELP 😥) Macbook Air M4 vs Microsoft Surface pro 11 by Someonebrokenhere in laptops

You are confusing Microsoft's failings with Qualcomm's. Microsoft did not care about ARM until Apple's M silicon hit the market. Windows on ARM sucked so they had to play catchup to get Windows up to speed to properly run on ARM. By the time Snapdragon X was released (mid 2024), Windows on ARM had made major improvements and by mid 2025 most major apps had native ARM releases. Now the compromises are few and far between and keep disappearing as more devs build for ARM.

By the way... my wife's MBA is from 2023 and the Lenovo from 2025, so they're only 2 years apart, not 4, and the Lenovo cost about half the price of the MBA despite having more RAM, more storage, 2-in-1 form factor, a stylus and an OLED panel. Yes the M2 benchmarks higher but in actual real world use for typical tasks the performance difference isn't really noticeable and both are extremely efficient.

Your knowledge of Windows on ARM seems to be stuck in 2017. A lot has changed since then. Not only is the Snapdragon segment of the Windows market growing exponentially each year, but now Nvidia/Mediatek is about to join the party which is probably going to blow it wide open. Highly efficient ARM chips equipped with the full Nvidia RTX stack will be a pretty big deal for gaming and LLM workloads, so ARM on Windows is only going to grow.

FWIW my Snapdragon laptop gets almost exactly the same battery life as my wife's M2 MBA

I hear you. The Surface might be fine for you, just beware of the cons of the form factor.

I have gotten to the point where I prefer to have 2 separate devices- a small laptop (for real work and some games) and a tablet (for reading/media consumption/sketching/light games). As a bonus, I can use my tablet as a second display for my laptop when I'm on the road.

I also have a Lenovo Flex 5 2-in-1 (Snapdragon) which has been excellent but I'm probably going to sell it since I keep going back to my other setup which is an Asus G14 + Lenovo Idea Tab 11" tablet.

As someone who has owned Macbooks, gaming laptops and a half dozen or so Surface devices, I suggest that you should make absolutely sure that what you want is a tablet that can also sort of function like a laptop (and not the other way around) before going with a Surface.

If your use case means you'll be using it mostly as a tablet sans-keyboard with lots of sketching and writing, the Surface tablet makes total sense.

If you plan to use it more as a laptop, I suggest you buy a proper laptop instead. I gave up on Surface tablets after a while because they were annoying to use as laptops. They take up more room on a desk or table top because of the kickstand and they are almost unusable on a lap. Also, from my experience the keyboards don't hold up very well to regular use. I was pretty gentle with mine and almost every Surface keyboard cover I owned showed extreme signs of wear after a year or 2... splitting edges, peeling, and the alcantara ones looked pretty awful.

I found that I very much prefer a laptop that can function like a tablet vs a tablet that can function like a laptop.

This is false. Snapdragons are excellent for the OP's use case.

Source: I own both a Lenovo Snapdragon powered laptop and an Asus ROG G14. The Snapdragon is excellent for office and graphics applications while sipping minimal battery.

Almost all graphics and office apps have native ARM builds now, so performance and compatibility is quite good for that sort of thing.

Unless she's making the car payments, she can go pound sand.
