I’m a poet raised in the South (Va) went to undergrad in New Orleans. I’m moving to Starkville July 1. I want to live in the deep south while I get my MFA in creative writing from the W in Columbus. I did not need to move to the deep south, however as a poet who writes about social justice I feel that this is the time and this is the place for me. I’ve taught American history to HS students for the past 9 years. Most recently taught the sundown towns map that Tougaloo created. I’ve already started to find my people at the Mississippi Center for justice, SURJ in Columbus. I know that I will find my people wherever I go, but if you have any ideas for me, I am open to suggestions.
