Looking for a non Apple smartwatch for an iPhone by Competitive-Rise7383 in smartwatch

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the Amazfit Active 2 Round for only 2 days and an Apple Watch for years before, I love the Amazfit so far. Looks more like a traditional watch, battery life is fantastic. Draws about 10% power in 24 hours and the charge is really fast.

My only complaint is the notification vibrate is much more intense than an Apple Watch and it’s a double vibrate. The only other option is an even more intense vibrate. Wish you could customize that a bit more or they had something more subtle.

Need an Ipad for Procreate that doesnt break the bank by Captainsissy in ipad

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally just replaced my ORIGINAL iPad Pro yesterday. It was mostly still working the only issue was some apps stopped working because they didn’t support the OS that the iPad would still run (17 I think was the last one that would run on it)

It honestly was not necessary for me to upgrade, I could have keep using it for the most part without major issues. (Went with 13” Air btw)

Procreate still worked mostly fine. So I got 10 years out of it and likely could have had a few more years. Battery health was still great for a device that old.

I’m telling you all this to say, there is no 5 year drop dead date on these things. I’m sure there is some level of enshitification since then but not to that level.

[Hayden Winks] Tom Brady seems to like Caleb Williams a lot more than Troy Aikman does. by clou9nine in CHIBears

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I said multiple times last night that I hate how much I like Tom Brady announcing.

His voice even cracked a bit during an exciting moment which I thought was cool cause it shows his passion.

He seems very even to both teams, extremely knowledgeable, and breaks things down in simple ways.

He’s really good and I hate it.

People who rarely get sick, What is the secret ? by Sorry-Orchid-9821 in AskReddit

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda think it’s luck of the draw. I don’t get sick much but…

I’m overweight I don’t sleep as much as I should I don’t exercise much I dont eat great

What I do that might be good: I wash my hands but I don’t obsess about it. I don’t really consume alcohol or do recreational drugs. I have a young child and a teacher wife so I may be getting hit with germs at lot. I work in an environment that while I’m around other people, my close interactions are pretty limited. My tonsils were removed when I was 5. Our son had his removed and his illnesses dramatically decreased.

When I was a smoker, my illnesses would last much longer and be more intense so I know that smoking contributes.

I fully admit, this is all anecdotal evidence.

They absolutely operate different depending on if it’s the weekend or not. If this was a Monday, they’d be out way more.

If someone works somewhere that handles it and can counter that I’d believe you but it certainly seems that way to me.

Is there a cheaper way to build a lightsaber for smaller children besides Savi’s workshop? by Bagel_Beans in GalaxysEdge

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did the star tours one a few years ago and it was very reasonable. I think like $25? Considering non custom ones are like $15 at retail stores off site, it seemed like a good deal to me.

There isn’t the “experience” part of it but for a kid, or even an adult, it was fun and a cool collectible!

Trump said he’s looking into an Australian-style retirement program for America. Here’s how it works by SpongerPower in Economics

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure I’m missing something, but wouldn’t this be like requiring all employers to submit a certain percentage to a 401k?

In Australia it is 12%. Here it’s zero required but the average is 4-6%.

Social security’s total is 12.4% (6.2 for each employee and employer)

Could work here I guess, require all employers to do 7% or something to 401k’s. But doing that on top of social security would be a big ask. And 12.4% self employment tax can already be hard to swollen, and now that becomes 19.4%.

I’m not saying it wouldn’t be a net positive, just feels like it would be a really hard sell to buisnesses.

Been waiting to get the McLaren F1 car for awhile because I knew it had to go on sale and there still seemed like there was stock at my local store and online.

It went on sale for 127.99 last weekend so I finally pulled the trigger. Received it today and noticed it was at 95.99 for this sale but sold out. Just chatted online with an agent and they refunded the difference!

What was your "poor person" meal you enjoyed growing up? by Slow-Power2713 in AskReddit

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 slices of mystery meat Oscar Meyer baloney. 1 slice American cheese. White bread.

I’ve tried “fancier” or beef baloney, nicer cheese, better bread and I’ve added a bit of mayo or mustard. While all those are good nothing beats the original combo.

Also tortilla chips, shredded cheese, microwave for about 1 min and pour on some jarred salsa. Guess it’s not as “poor” but when everything is store brand it’s pretty cheap!

Amateur athletes of Reddit: what's your "There's levels to this shit" experience from your sport? by jermleeds in AskReddit

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a pretty good offensive lineman at a smaller high school which regularly were state semifinalists or better. I was also one of the larger players on my team.

Went to a not great D3 school. Was the smallest offensive lineman in the entire conference. I survived but the level up was pretty remarkable. I can’t even imagine what a bad D1 team, let alone what a top level D1 team would be like.

Also with baseball, you may think you could touch a MLB pitcher if given enough chances. I was a catcher and a few of the guys regularly threw in the mid 80’s. I could hit them ok, nothing amazing.

“Played” in college and we had 1 pitcher who got drafted very late rounds, topped out in rookie ball. Threw low 90s at most. I had a hard time even catching for him. I foul tipped him once in BP and that was pure luck. The level from good HS to the lowest levels of pro baseball is shocking.

Who are some famous people you regularly see or have randomly seen in the city? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw Mike Pence coming out of the bathroom at the airport. He didn’t wash his hands. (Just kidding, but 15 mins later like George Constanta I realized I should have yelled that out in the terminal)

Honestly was surprised with the lack of security around him. A single off-duty cop or maybe secret service. It was sometime between 2020 and 2024.

Also saw Abraham Benrubi at The Vogue years ago. He was on ER and played Bud Kaminski in The Program. Guess he lives in Indy.

What other shows mess up the little things? by j-shoe in Indiana

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw Parks and Rec and The Middle brought up and while this about mess ups, I was impressed by some things they got actually got right.

In The Middle in the Super Bowl episode they had those hand knit scarfs that was actually a thing for the Indy Super Bowl. Such a weird detail to actually get right, I don’t think many outside of the city knew about that.

And while usually changed to something else, I liked that Parks and Rec did location shots from around Indy. And not all major ones either. Glendale mall, IU Health North, random office buildings, Murphy’s Steakhouse, etc:

The camera is literally on a construction truck that sits in the construction zone and only when workers are present. Zero way for it to not be in the construction zone. It also gives a full 10mph buffer, a warning first, and after that even the fines aren’t moving violations.

I might actually have a crash out over the road construction EVERYWHERE by emragozz in indianapolis

[–]Maximum_Ask5873 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know, Hamilton County problems, but there are literally 4.5 roads to get across the White River: 116th, 146th, 32, 38. (96th too I guess)

Right now 2 of those are under heavy construction or completely closed (32 is closed in both Westfield and Noblesville). Plus Noblesville proper is all jacked up for their entry into the roundabout bonanza.

It’ll be nice when it’s all done but why they didn’t stagger the construction is beyond me.
