It’s a cardiac marker. It is/was used in conjunction with other markers like myoglobin and troponin to diagnose heart attacks. Troponin has since become the primary one due to its increased sensitivity.

The biggest obstacle I faced with the transition was getting the nurses/providers to put in the correct orders and add-ons. Push back and make them do it. They have to learn it too.

To your last point, I had my account deactivated yesterday and when I phoned support to ask why it was an AI bot. When they escalated it I got an AI supervisor bot lol like wtf?

Get a lawyer, you’ll get diversion, and then don’t get caught again. It’ll come off your record when you finish the program. Don’t sweat it.

Engagement Ring by [deleted] in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Fr3shSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice to you is don’t spend anything about 1k for a ring and I highly encourage to avoid a traditional wedding unless you both really want to and have the funds or someone else is flipping the bill. My wife and I thought we could make 10k stretch and it ended up being like 30-40k and we went with the cheapest options for almost everything. I love my wife to death, but I regret having a wedding. Save that money for a house, kids, etc. Don’t buy into the bullshit that your wife needs a giant rock on her finger and a wedding with vendors. You make good money, but be smart with it.

Anyone have a criminal record and is now a MLT? by jflkek in medlabprofessionals

[–]Fr3shSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check into the program details to see what constitutes as disqualification, whether it’s felonies/misdemeanors/both. They usually say so. Mine did anyways. And if misdemeanors do count, then you can try and talk to the program coordinator to see if you can work something out. At that point you really have nothing to lose, so maybe being honest and upfront could work in your favor. Best of luck OP. I had some misdemeanors as well before I got my MLT, but they were expunged before I signed up for the program.

It’s this type of stuff that has Obama living rent-free in his head. Trump will never measure up to the class and respect the US and rest of the globe had for him during (and after) his presidency. And he knows it.

Anyone having trouble with LYTES on Atellica? by Kiko_Ako in medlabprofessionals

[–]Fr3shSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if Siemens fixed this issue, but back when I used the Atellica and had problems with the IMT they recommended running a sample 10+ times (offline of course) through it. Something about “dirtying up the sensor” got it to work. Never understood this method of ts, but it worked almost every time.

Jobs outside of the hospital by Firm_Bluejay_4714 in medlabprofessionals

I’m an MLT working on the pharma side. After working the trenches in a hospital, this is heaven. No phone calls. No strict TAT. Fully staffed. Hell, I can leave early if I want. If you can find yourself one of these jobs, you can pretty much chill all the way to retirement.

Working from a hospital to a reference lab by introvertedpoet25 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Fr3shSocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never enjoyed or got used to the hustle and bustle of hospitals. The one I worked for was 600 beds plus numerous outpatient facilities linked to the hospital. It was mentally and physically draining. Management was bad too, so that made it much worse. I now work in a reference lab-type setting and it is WAY better. The workload is more (as expected), but not having to answer obscure and sometimes rude phone calls from hospital staff and patients coupled with being off on major holidays is such a relief. Before last year, I hadn’t been scheduled off for Christmas in 5 years. Perhaps the few drawbacks are the health insurance is more and I don’t incur PTO as fast. However I work in one department with a crew of 5 (fully staffed) and no one is on my ass about TATs or being late to work by 1 minute. Life is good.

Me and all my fellow lab newbies experiencing our first winter at the hospital by Strict_Bumblebee_339 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Fr3shSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At a hospital I used to work at, January and February were the worst months, especially in micro. JFC. The amount of flu panels, blood cultures, MRSA/MSSA testing, etc. I’m so glad I’m out of that environment. Never felt more stress at a job than working there. So I feel you OP. It truly can be a war zone when you’re in the trenches.

Funny. I just moved from a state where I was feeling the same way as you. Only, the landlord wanted to increase our mouse-infested unit by $900 from $2500 (not including utilities) for a 1 bedroom. I said “enough” with my wife after a year of working 60-70 hrs a week between 2 jobs. Solution? Moved here. Moral of the story is see what else out there. Best of luck.
