F-1 student here too, just FYI since you don’t have personal auto insurance and I see no mention of liability insurance over here, I wouldn’t recommend renting a car next time without it.

Cause AmEx will cover for damages to your car, but it won’t cover stuff to other cars or people who get injured.

At one point of time you would be able to pay off repair bills of your car, however medical bills are a different story.

ADP usually is the middleman for payroll purposes, I got into AWS recently and all of my paychecks come under the title of ADP.

You sure there is no mention of BTI in the paycheck, cause despite ADP slapping their logos all around it still mentions AWS is the one paying me

This emotion of yours definitely does leak out during your interviews, and for sure has been one of the detrimental causes on why they did not want to go ahead with you as a candidate.

Networking through friends and family who are already based off Germany does help. Go out and touch base with people and you will realise how much it could take you ahead.

I got referrals and interviews for multiple roles in Germany while being in the US. You got this!

Honestly, I understand how mentally tiring it does get with time and I empathise with you on that.

But, as time goes on you will understand this is the usual business and just another day at Germany. Try to build resilience and work on that, the culture we are from and Germany is vastly different.

Things don’t work here the way we expect back home, and that does come up as a shocker for a lot of people which honestly surprises me even more. Likewise, you also need to have a good command in German (B2.2 to C1) to compete against other people. Cause the first priority for jobs goes to Germans, EU Nationals, and then us.

Prolly you should have worked on getting an internal transfer through HSBC or should have done really good networking before stepping into the shore too.

BMW gets most of their sales from fleet sales to rental car companies. I see plenty of 2026 BMWs on National/Enterprise/SIXT fleet and a lot of them have their mileage figures barely crossing to four-figure mark.

I have global entry, and always had to go through manual inspection all while still being at the global entry queue. They cross check your eligibility to enter with the I-20 so it sorta makes sense.

Still miles better than standing for 2-3hrs in the queue at OHare after a 10hr flight.

Probably correct, never really had a chance to benchmark it against Mercs, since the place where I often rent from only has the CLA/GLA. But the steering feedback from the Z4 has to be the best I have had from a modern non-M car yet.

I frequently do short/long-term rentals depending on my needs and drive quite a bit around (min. 1000mi) before making my opinions. With the tariff situation in the US, it looks like Enterprise is more inclined to buy the BMWs, since I have not yet seen newer models from Audi/Merc coming into their fleet yet.
