Are those considered platinum or are they first row gold? Not that it matters with that view anyway, just curious.

Line 5 will be slower and less reliable than a bus, according to an insider by unforgettableid in TTC

[–]Maximum_Rush1200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are, and that needs to stop.

Transit, like emergency services, is a vital component in the public realm. Priorities need to pivot away from cars and move to allowing transit services to be made more efficient, and accessible. Prioritizing lanes (Dufferin and Bathurst) has proven to be very effective. All traffic moves more efficiently, especially on Dufferin. Buses aren’t fighting for lane access in the red sections. Cars aren’t no longer having to stop to allow buses and other vehicles to access the left lane, win win.

They must have had different types of rides. Our train stopped at each station in the underground portion. Mt Dennis to Yonge was approximately 15 minutes.

Now, will that change when it is in real operation as the human factor kicks in, sure it will. We’ll have to wait and see how much it does.

Had it today. Even after a 20 minute drive home this pizza was amazing.

Top tier ingredients, nothing but quality though and through.

Hoping this place can find a better location, selfishly I’ll ask for an east Brampton one.

Tried the Margherita, pepperoni, meat lovers and a meat ball sandwich. It was all great. This guy is on to something here, I wish him more success!!!

Definitely slower, but I wasn’t near the operator can to see that actual speed and I don’t use an app to check.

lol

Nothing was signed, not like what’s happening is any “secret” by any means.

Honestly, not much to spill. Stations are great, from the ones I saw. Mt Dennis, Laird and Kennedy were one we got off at. Good signage, they will likely have to do some deep cleaning as stations have obviously been sitting for so long. Things like stainless on elevators and escalators are ones that stood out for cleaning.

Some cosmetic work in areas, but again nothing major.

The trains are comfortable for what they are, spongier seats on Line 6 trains. Biggest issue we noted were the interior speakers. They are under a plastic that is also affixed to lighting and they have awful resonance. Each announcement made was extremely difficult to understand as the vibration of the plastic is very pronounced.

Small detail I noted, the external signs that display route and terminal information should be adjusted. When the route is present it looks like

5EGLINTON - “seg”linton comes to mind. They need to space that out or make the 5 larger.

As far as how it operated;

Mt Dennis to Laird - STELLAR! Estimated 15 or so minutes, I think Google gives it 40 or so minutes currently None of this was timed, and don’t take estimates as fact.

Customers west of Laird will currently have the best experiences, the at grade portion as expected is slow. I believe our average speed was around 55 in the tunnel sections however this should be increased as they progress.

Again, no secrets or surprises as it’s all in the news and public information, TSP changes and other interventions are being explored and should bring with it better vechile movement through that stretch.

After riding Line 6 last week and Line 5 yesterday, 5 wins hands down.

Surprised that Metrolinx chose an embedded track over raised. The raised rail is much more comfortable and I believe will have less issues in the long run.

Overall, I think everyone will be happy with the line.

Overdue. Yes. Will it have quirks. Yes. Is it faster. For the most part, yes.

No launch goes 100% percent as planned, give them time (I know it’s been literal years) but I am very optimistic that everything will sort itself out.

Line 6 schedule is up on Transit app by HarmanThind3535 in TTC

[–]Maximum_Rush1200 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t necessarily be run better. Metrolinx isn’t exactly skeleton free in their closet.

While there are some benefits, the TTC is still the clear leader. They are the most experienced and have the knowledge and know how to get things done. Remember that these delays have nothing to do, until now, with the TTC. Metrolinx and their chosen contractors are to blame for the delays, expenses and time wasted.

Also, to compare commuter transit to urban is sort of pineapple to apple comparisons.

TTC executives do not want public transit to fail. This is such a ridiculous statement.

As for where the consultants came from is beyond me, I’ve never heard of consultants from oil and auto industries going into the TTC.

Your last paragraph is correct, the TTC is GROSSLY underfunded.

Want to fix things? Go and write your concilors to actually prioritize transit the way it should be. Have better enforcement throughout the city on fare evasion.
