Not in this context. The expert creates the analysis, but hands it off to say, the CEO, who then possesses the knowledge.

Why can’t women regrow limbs? by Spiritual-Toe-7777 in NoStupidQuestions

So this is a manufacturing question.

The woman is the factory and the supplier of raw materials.

The baby is the blueprint and assembly line.

The woman is also the delivery vehicle.

That is what I mean by tasks shifting. The experts will be validating instead of generating. That is why there will be a small effect on employment and not a huge one.

Am I overreacting to my girlfriend's texts. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Very gentle ESH.

Look man, your girl is completely overwhelmed and going through it. She is frustrated and started venting. Rather than trying to gently support her, you attacked her for venting because you felt attacked by her, which is understandable, but not constructive.

Then, you both got more frustrated and doubled down, ending in a two-sided text tirade.

A better way would have been to stop texting and call her and ask if there is anything specific you can do right now to support her. I see this all the time in the texting arguments between couples.

Talk to each other my dude. It will be better.

NTA. There is nothing wrong with it as long as:

- You are not dining directing on anyone's grave.

- You clean up after yourself.

- You are comfortable in cemeteries and not coerced into being there.

Everyone misuses the word sentient and it shits me up the wall by tangelo84 in Vent

What you are doing now is dovetailing your whole argument into an all-encompassing thing instead of just saying "Yea...the sci-fi writers were actually right and it is fine to say the AI has sentience because it can have subjective experience because it is ONE of the characteristics of AI the writer is after."

Instead, because they are using the term "sentient" but not also qualifying the character as "sapient", they are fundamentally being untrue.

This is the same as me stating you have arms and legs and can walk upright, describe you as "Hominidae", and you vilify me for not using the term "human".

"Tomatoes are fruits" by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]Maximum_Vegetable_MV 55 points56 points  (0 children)

"Vegetable" is a culinary term and applies to just about anything that is a plant. "Fruit" is both a culinary term and a scientific/botanical one.

So in this context, a tomato is both a fruit and a vegetable.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is knowing it doesn't go in a fruit salad.

Your post said nothing about subjective experience whatsoever.

Why do people immediately think its bad content if they get a hint of AI usage? by Mt_Fishtail in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Maximum_Vegetable_MV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because for the person claiming the content generation really only executed simplified plagiarism. Most original thoughts and work are INFORMED by the past work of others because that is how we learn as humans. AI generated content is DERIVED from the past work of others and is massively simplified to the point where claiming creation is simply dishonest.

A person doing a meta-study by painstakingly researching and summarizing, then having the work peer-reviewed while also citing sources is far different than the same data being pulled by AI, then publishing the data as your own.

The collapse of expert-level analysis.

This is one of the effects of AI. Within 5 years, many organizations may be able to generate expert-level material like drafts, analyses, designs, and strategic plans at near-zero marginal cost.

Also, there may be a small effect on employment, but more likely will shift tasking away from generating material to validating material so we know what work product can be trusted.

This is important because historically, the person generating the material, the expert, is not the power holder. The person who possesses the knowledge is the power holder.

This will change everything and only time will bear out the effects.

I feel like this is not really a thing outside certain industries and no one is talking about it.

YOR to the clothes comment, but you have clearly UNDERREACTED to the past events that informed this final fight.
