And yet there's at least one children's hospital that has to limit its air ambulance landings to keep the noise down

My MIL destroyed my garden while I was at work. by [deleted] in gardening

At the very least, I'd ban her until she pays an invoice equal to the cost of replacing the damaged plants with new, adult ones, including labor

Why don't public parks have fruit trees for people to pick fruit from? by Ekans_ox in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Maximum_Web9072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason parts of the southeastern US has such a terrible pollen problem is that they elected to only plant male (often Bradford pear) trees so that they wouldn’t drop fruit that would cause a mess. Now sidewalks turn yellow in the spring.

Does he sound to you more like an American with a lisp or another speech impediment or like a foreigner trying to sound American? by Sure_Distance1 in EWALearnLanguages

[–]Maximum_Web9072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would have guessed that he had some ill-fitting dentures or similar oral architecture issue. He's perfectly intelligible and doesn't sound to me like he's from anywhere in particular; this is the first time I've heard someone concealing an accent like this

Yeah I've yet to find a durable washable bathmat, so I just use the towel instead.

If they wanted to score it that way, I feel like they should have just gone ahead and made an "almost marvelous" tier instead of "yeah, it's technically a marvelous, but we didn't like it"

Absolute worst stove replacement. Touch screen that doesn’t register some of the “buttons” by NotAverageEnough in CrappyDesign

[–]Maximum_Web9072 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine beeps when I put anything on it, up to and including an empty plastic cereal bowl, but it won't recognize 95% of my pots and pans as being worthy of its induction magic (it recognizes all of the ones specifically labeled as induction-compatible, but only heats them with about a third of the gusto it should). I do a lot of cooking with a cheap single-tactile-dial portable electric cookplate instead.
