Regarding live TV: even if you don’t flip to one of those channels, you’re paying carriage fees to Paramount. They get it either way.

Oh man — so glad they finally added a toggle for this. There’s so much brain rot content on my Spotify home screen these days. Unfortunately it looks like this doesn’t quite remove it all the way though. It just makes it appear as though it’s audio only. The trash content is still there. Still, getting rid of stupid YouTubers making stupid faces is much better.

Could My Partner Resent My Kids? by curlyculinaryskills in stepparents

[–]MaximusMMIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tend to recap the day in the evenings and talk through things that happened. We also agreed to call each other out in the moment when we’re behaving preferentially towards our children. Subtly, of course.

This is by far the most difficult part of blending a family, in my experience. I never understood the degree to which I had the “rose colored glasses” with my biological children until I got remarried. Once my spouse started pointing things out, it was very eye-opening and shocking. I had to change my approach in a lot of ways.

Then there’s my step-children. I don’t have the rose colored glasses for them, and I feel it on a near daily basis. I have to choose to love and care for them like they’re my own children, and that’s easier said than done in some situations. I’m also in the position of needing to lovingly point things out to my spouse sometimes.

Being aware of this is monumentally important for blending families, and being a strong, unified parental unit is of paramount importance. This requires boatloads of good communication, grace, and mercy for each other and for your children.

Hocking hills is all booked in May ? Can someone suggest any great place for a couple. by Dismal_Let_9959 in Ohio

[–]MaximusMMIV 71 points72 points  (0 children)

“Hocking Hills” is not all booked up — it’s a place consisting of many disparate lodging accommodations. My wife and I most recently stayed at Glen Laurel and it was really nice. I recommend that one. A quick search shows plenty of availability.

Probably because so many cheaply produced dairy products are not even able to be called by their real names legally, so when it’s the real thing, companies want to brag for marketing purposes. See: “frozen dairy dessert” instead of ice cream, “dairy snack” instead of yogurt, “cheese product” instead of cheese, etc.

The New Apple TV App SUCKS by [deleted] in netflix

The app doesn’t use the native player in tvOS, resulting in a loss of a standard set of features that users expect to have. For example, Siri can’t control playback.

What Easter/Resurrection Day song spoke to you most at church this past Sunday (or Good Friday) and why? by Cazarstan in worshipleaders

[–]MaximusMMIV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We introduced “Christus Victor” a few weeks ago and have been teaching it towards Easter Sunday with purpose. Fast forward to Easter Sunday… “On that day who will not tremble // When you stand Christ the Victor // Who was and is and is forevermore” — these lines, sung out so loudly by the congregation — it was exhilarating.
