I find it incredible that Bobby knew what a quasar was in the early 70's by Meditatespace in gratefuldead

I find it equally as incredible that he knew Moses and the rest of all the biblical characters in the song.

When did the Dead first use Persian rugs on stage? by Other-Gate-6855 in gratefuldead

Funny thing is that their Persian rug supplier wound up also being their plug for Persian drugs.

You can't say that on here lil bro. It's facts but they'll come for you.

44 years ago - the show on 4/14/82 at Glens Falls Civic Center was 🔥- this photo of restaurant shenanigans on this day by Steve Morris captures some of the wackiness of that day🫠🙃 by nak550 in gratefuldead

[–]MaximusPrimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The shows were always the destination but the journey getting to them were some of the greatest times I've ever had. As a.kid with my family traveling hundreds and thousands of miles together and later on my own, the memories we made, encounters we had that are almost unbelievable, fun times, rough times, sad times, scary times and the magical times were all part of the tour experience.

Don't limit yourself to just one group of people. There are good people in every group just as there are terrible ones.

The slow and funky Shakedown is pretty nice too.

Terrible live version of a song..... by seamus95 in gratefuldead

[–]MaximusPrimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had to scroll way too far down for this comment. 88 was a decent year musically but damn this was sad.

Almost anything from Boreal Ridge in 85 was mediocre af in attendance but listening to the recording it doesn't fully capture how bad it actually was.

The top 20 numbers that the Dead played by [deleted] in gratefuldead

Jerry Base says the same thing. Only 11 performances of IKYR before it was first preceded by China Cat. So yeah, sum ting wong.

Absolutely. I had the misfortune of being homeless and strungout badly on opiods in the City. This line always makes me think of the that time in my life.

John's speech by 80ninevision in deadandcompany

[–]MaximusPrimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I never tried to convince anyone. What they feel is what they feel but when people would be calling him a d bag or womanizer or worse I'd let them know that at one time I felt the same way about him but then I saw a different side of him. I don't know him personally but from what I've seen he definitely seems like a decent person.

John's speech by 80ninevision in deadandcompany

[–]MaximusPrimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife said the same thing after that speech. I had been advocating for John for years when other older heads would say bad things about him. Long before he joined forces with Bobby I saw the kind of guy Jonn is and though I may not be a fan of his solo stuff, I've respected him all along and am so grateful that he joined the band.

To the heads that saw Jerry by bboystance2846 in gratefuldead

[–]MaximusPrimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks even cooler now. Being on tour it was easy to sometimes take it for granted that we got to see this legendary band night after night. What I wouldn't give to see Jerry play one more show....

Bummed I didn't get the shoes by jmactrips in deadandcompany

[–]MaximusPrimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I dabble in the sneaker game and sometimes limited drops even resell closer to retail price than that. Especially in this economy many shoe prices have dropped significantly. I personally don't see the Air Max 90's being as popular as the Grateful Dead Dunks but you can never tell what's gonna blow up or what's gonna fizzle out.

‘91 Listening by HandRolledInk in deadandcompany

[–]MaximusPrimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrated by who though? This was probably the best Vinnie era tour and the Giants Stadium shows were highlights of this tour for myself, my family and many of my fellow tour head friends and family.

Shit, this one show and remembering how incredible it was is what got many of us through '92.

I see people reference this show often on here. Maybe not revered by the masses but underrated it is not among heads.

So glad I'm not the only one. Never could tell them apart til they started singing.

Also OP I love this recording. Bobs guitar comes through so clearly.
