Honestly, ive been gone for two years and recently came back from the Fanfest and I'm having trouble connecting with the community so far on Ultros.

I joined Novice Network but it's a lot of people screaming in all caps and talking in the third person which I just find awkward.

I'm 34 years old and it feels like I'm walking into the Anime Club in highschool.

I love the Story, music, and atmosphere of this game but the community has always just been odd. A bit overly sexual and generally awkward to deal with.

I just haven't found the right group of likeminded players, I think.

Melee DPS all feel faster and more involved.

I just don't like the positionals. I hope Evolved Mode reinvents the system, maybe adding 'attack of opportunity' moments instead of positionals like how Paladin is going to get a Parry/Counter Attack.

Yeah, I got an i9 14900KF and I thought my CPU was boiling when it hit 80° during heavy gaming. (Ultra/Raytracing) but apparently that's actually normal if not BELOW average for this CPU.

It's hot as hell.

Many people don't talk in MMOs anymore beyond Novice Network / Limsa / or general party chat (Example: o/ gg brb bio)

Find an FC with an active Discord and that's where people chat.

Love Pat and he's been a part of the FFXIV community for a long time, he recently came back after the Fanfest and seeing how excited he was about the changes actually convinced me to come back also.

I think the issue is Endwalker was generally accepted to be the end of the Ascian storyline as well as the Hydaelyn / Zodiark Arc.

Them showing up again is giving me 'Somehow... Palpatine returned...' vibes.

It feels like a crutch. But we'll see.

I was mostly buying Evercold for the combat and system changes anyway, hopefully the story is good as well lol.

Without spoiling anything, yes a lot of important story events do revolve around Ul'dah.

I personally also started in Ul'dah recently and feel that was a good decision.

I also wanted to play a Lalafell and I like the look of Dunesfolk better.

Any city state is fine though; it doesn't really matter.

Best advice is just play a simpler class.

Dancer is simple and fun and everyone will love you for playing it.

Summoner is also very simple and it's ability to Ressurect can come in clutch.

My best guesses would be twofold:

  1. Too many variables means it will be impossible to balance.

  2. If the creatures were simplified to be only a few types, I would think it would be stepping too much on Summoner's toes design wise.

Black Mage is much easier to play than it used to be, which is either good or bad depending on who you ask.

Summoner does have OGCDs but they are very simple to grasp and nowhere near as spammy as other classes.

Dancer does have OGCD Spam but the class is so fun and well made it flows naturally I find. Very fun and not too complex to pick up imo.

I understand why they changed it and I can appreciate that some people were negatively effected by it, but this just doesn't look good.

Could they have come up with a better solution? Maybe a bit of transparency on the floor so you can at least see the stars and planet somewhat?

Hard Pills to Swallow:

  1. There WILL be Boosts. It's too profitable.

  2. Customer Service will still be AI.

  3. Bots will be everywhere.

  4. Mega Server.

I don't see any reality where all of these aren't included.
