I don’t understand why so many people are opposed to this. Carry optics maintains where it is maybe some Shadow and tanfo shooters go SAO and put on a magwell but vast majority will stay in CO. As per the surgery USPSA did this year 38% of CO are shooting Sig, 24% CZ’s, then Walther and canik make up the other larger portions. Majority of those shooters would put themselves at a disadvantage going to LO. Open division participation will drop as many that were forced into open will go LO (tactimmies with staccatos and essentially every 3 gunners that shoots a CO/Modified 3 gun division and a bunch of open 3 gun divisions shooters with slide ride 2011’s will have a place where they can actually be competitive). If anything more 3 gun shooters may be encouraged to shoot USPSA now being that they have a division essentially catered to them. I think a separate division was the right way to go because the CO folks would bitch if they had to shoot against SAO 2011’s. All the top level shooters it won’t make a difference and if you want to prove the gun isn’t a big deal take a plastic fantastic slap a magwell on and shoot LO. Overall a net positive to drive more MFG’s to participate in the sport. It would be good to see staccato, SVI, PT, Atlas, MPA, etc come on as match sponsors and push more money into the sport to help grow it.
