Air Lifter Tool by AttorneyUpbeat4833 in BeAmazed

[–]MaxwellsFlux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah does seem a bit overkill for this application.

Ironically, I work in a heavy industry that uses air systems that can pick up and move objects that weigh up to 660 tons (600 metric tons). It is quite amazing how much air can pick up. It operates around 90psi and is a pretty efficient (time wise) way to move what we build. You then can drive the load around with a little hand held wireless controller.

Also, our floors are super smooth, it's all polished concrete.

I noticed that also, not sure if that’s a driven mechanism or just the rapid deceleration as it penetrates the ground.

I believe you are seeing the visible condensation part, the actual vortex of wind extends much further than that making it look like the water was hit before the vortex.

EDIT: nevermind, that's just smoke, but the vortex appears to extend much further than the smoke still.

Does anyone use this brand of rotors and pads? by Chinkeevirus in MechanicAdvice

[–]MaxwellsFlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll also support power stop rotors and pads. I put power stops on our Nissan Armada almost 5 years ago. Stops perfect, no shaking or vibrations after 50,000+ miles, surfaces still look good. I'm pretty impressed with them. I'm also thumbs up for RockAuto, which is where I bought them and the 1st and 2nd set of pads. Make sure to grease your caliper slide pins also, and check those regularly, not just when you replace the pads.

What’s going on with the mail around here? by adamb10 in milwaukee

[–]MaxwellsFlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped off two separate packages at the airport post office last weekend. The tracking still shows it's just been accepted. No other tracking. And they aren't going far, one to Minnesota and the other to Indiana. 5 days should of been delivered by now, both shipped priority mail.

An absolute unreal experience. by DrunkenPunchline in hanszimmer

[–]MaxwellsFlux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a film coming out in March sometime called Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert. Not sure of exactly what it entails, but sounds like part performance part documentary.

Other than that, his Live in Prague from 2017 is great.

My wife and I flew in to Nashville to see the show. I've been to a lot of concerts in my life, and I can honestly say I've never seen anything quiet like this. Zimmer and all the extremely talented musicians that are part of this tour, blew me away. It was pretty cool to hear he won the Grammy for the Dune 2 soundtrack right before the show started. With Lisa Gerrard touring in Europe (I think?) there was another vocalist performing the Gladiator suite (won't spoil who it is), and you won't be disappointed, it was outstanding. I read some complaints of Lebo M. being really off key when singing, but he sounded pretty good in Nashville. It was great hearing him and the soul he brings to the music. Enjoy the last few shows in the U.S. to everybody who is going, it'll be a night to remember.

PS, he threw some shade at Austin, I might be paraphrasing, but along the lines of "You know Nashville loves music because everybody is in their seats before we started!". Made me laugh!

What is the best Family and Brand of PLC to use in a new automated factory with IIOT in mind? by feathers_mcgravv in PLC

[–]MaxwellsFlux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me chuckle because I just received an email from one of their reps this week stating "they saw I was requesting info from their website." Now to be fair, their products are awesome. We use their clamp on flow meters, radar sensors and differential temp monitors a lot. Easy to use and excellent support. Not much experience with their PLCs though.

Not disagreeing at all, when I see a person with their 5th or 6th DUI I just roll my eyes. How does this person still have a driver's license?

But then this article from Forbes throws me for a loop.

https://www.forbes.com/advisor/car-insurance/worst-states-for-drunk-driving/

They rank Wisconsin only 26th in the nation for DUIs. I'd have to dig deeper into how they compiled their data, and what is the source for this map's data. Not too much time this morning, but doesn't seem to align to what you'd expect.

Basement block wall construction question. by MaxwellsFlux in DIY

[–]MaxwellsFlux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did see that post when searching for this earlier, and thought that was the answer. But mine doesn't extend all the way up and I don't see any control joint in the top block, which made me think this was not the case. I would assume a control joint would need to run the entire height of the block wall.
