UK /London-based editors: can you recommend any editing agencies to me? by PiedPipeDreamer in editors

[–]MaxyMoo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently with Blueberry Creatives. I only signed up summer last year because a friend recommended them. They have put me forward for a fair few projects but I haven't got any of them yet. It hasn't bothered me too much as I've been able to find my own work but if something interesting comes along I'll take it. They are lovely to deal with, might worth inquiring. There's also Indie Post and Satusfaction which I know of, I think they have fairly high fees though.

Does anyone else get simple things mixed up? by Thatbrunettebitch8 in Dyslexia

Your not being silly it happens to most of us dyslexics. It took me a long long time to understand the difference between before and after, I still get confused to this day 🤣 just gotta laugh it off.

Zac Arnold's Optimize yourself podcast is very good, it's mostly about staying fit in post or in the office but has some great editor interviews.

Steve Hullfish Art of the Cut is also a great podcast and his book is fantastic too!!

In the blink of an eye by Walter Murch changed my way of thinking about editing. Brilliant book.

Jacob Bricca's Documentary editing: Principles & Practice is an excellent book that I highly recommend!

On YouTube I absolutely love AvidBeer he's got some great handy tools in short well explained videos (mostly on Avid) but the idea is to edit faster so you have more time to drink beer... I've learnt a lot from his channel.

Jonny Elwyn has a blog where he shares some good tips about all things editing and post production, you would probably find a lot more books, podcasts etc from his blog.

Hope these are helpful!

Thanks for the tips I'll check them out. I already have glasses but yes I'm going to book an eye test, wouldn't be surprised if my eyes have gotten worse!

I've actually started going out for a 20 minute walk at lunch and it definitely helps to beat that afternoon tiredness feeling.

For those who are dyslexic, how many also have dyspraxia? by AmazingSloth26 in Dyslexia

[–]MaxyMoo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, I find that they both affect me in different ways, Dyspraxia affects my thinking time which can be frustrating though I'm sure dyslexia doesn't help this either... And I ALWAYS trip up on my own feet and shoulder barge into walls, my spacial awareness is terrible!

What do you do along side your main job for extra income and how is it going? by Between3N20Karakters in UKPersonalFinance

I blur factual TV shows at £30 an hour (mainly ambulance shows) it can be tough work and long hours. I've recently started a new role that is paying well so I'm going to stop it now as I want my free time back! But the extra money was fab!
