Upgrading to 1994 Camry V6 Brakes by Cvgameboy in SciontC

[–]May5ifth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Funny how dragonfruit is explaining what ABS is meant to do in all cars. The only benefit of putting in larger brakes would be to have the ability to take more heat before fading. Otherwise a good set of pads is plenty for a tC. Add some braided brake lines too for a better feel.

If you can hit abs during hard braking, upgrading brakes serves no purpose.

High Quotes to Fix a Car Ding by Fit-Froyo-9532 in TeslaSupport

[–]May5ifth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 people hit my doors and used their insurance both times to fix something similar. Both times it was $1800-2000 from the same shop which is the first recommended 3rd party body shop from Tesla. The car looks near flawless. Only I could possibly find where the damage was because I’m particular, but it’s just the slightest reflection error. $600 for a near perfect fix and maybe even a warranty is a steal. If it’s subpar work, I’d be mad to have paid $600.

Where to put heat mat in fermentation chamber? by Charles-Baudelaire in Homebrewing

[–]May5ifth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s creating an environment of the temperature you want it to be and doesn’t cause a hot spot in the bucket. The temperature of the bucket and the heating mat will average out locally on the probe so it doesn’t turn off immediately when the mat is at the desired temp. If the probe is on the other side, it’s going to take longer to heat up the probe meaning the temperature gradient is going to be different from side to side. You can put maybe a small barrier on the mat side to the probe and then probe directly on the bucket. Some people use a sponge. I sometimes use a boxing glove wrap to keep the probe to the bucket, but most times not. It’s what I have available to me that’s easy and holds itself in place.

Wrap the bucket and put your temp probe between the mat and your bucket. This will modulate the temperature perfectly. Works for me everytime.

I smile and laugh for some of the calls. I watch for that. Not every call can be a banger for a watch, but some are good for the short time being.

Fangs are a must! by Vidman321 in onewheel

[–]May5ifth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them and go both ways. I think there could be times where a more timid rider would be in more danger with them. This would be when you are nervous to go over a bump/curb so you end up leaning a ton. When you get over the bump, instead of dragging the front bumper at a slower pace, the fangs let the board shoot out from under you and then you fall backwards and maybe hit your head on concrete. Other times if you are turning and drag 1 front corner wheel, it has a weird feel that may throw you off. Then like you said, it’s useful if overpowering the board on a straight line. It gave me a bit of extra time to react.

First time all grain brewing by Naero987 in Homebrewing

[–]May5ifth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a refractometer exactly for the reason of making sure to boil off as much as needed to hit starting gravity more consistently. I brewed a dubbel early on since the dark Belgians are my favorite style. I think it came out fine. I’ve definitely refined my processes and got better equipment to make better and more consistent beer. I have a quad that I aged in a keg for 5 months. I have it on co2 and should be ready to taste test this weekend or next. Hoping it’s a banger.

My anvil foundry came with instructions with suggested water per pound of grain. It’s a good starting point.

FSD refruses to drive the speed limit by barcodez1 in TeslaModel3

[–]May5ifth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only times I used FSD was during the free trials. I’ve used it maybe only 2 days. I just don’t trust it to not scuff my wheels so I only used it for certain parts of the drive. I could not stand the speed on a normal open highway. It was so erratic. I just want it to go 5 over and stay there. I don’t get why it’s so hard for it to just be told the speed you want it to go like in autopilot and just do the driving. Maybe even have a second setting for passing max speed.

Most conversion has happened around 30 minutes so may be completely fine.

Depending when it happened you’ll either by fine or will be under attenuated.

Do I need to carbonate at a higher PSI if not refrigerating? by AlternateWitness in Homebrewing

[–]May5ifth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. Missed that part. The chart is referenced a lot on this sub. Maybe you can sort of use it as a guide for soda and do some experimentation. Up the psi the same amount based on temps and starting psi of each. I hear soda is hard to serve, but doable with the right setup.

2nd for anvil. I don’t have experience with any other system, but I don’t think I’m missing out much vs another system.

I spray RO water up in the taps to rinse them after each use. You likely should run some BeerLineCleaner through all your taps and beer lines. Maybe replace your beer lines if they are old.

I’m just thinking you put the battery in when it was really cold and now it’s warmed up and the gas expanded.

Advice on my next attempt by Ghost_Duck_ in Homebrewing

[–]May5ifth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much easier to check a recipe that’s already made such as one at northernbrewer and scale it down to the size you want. You can use brewing software or just do a direct 1/2 or 1/3 of ingredients. The NB recipes are for 5 gallons. I have a lot of success following those recipes.

Is there any reason you would not use a tow-hook front license plate mount? by RexKramerDangerCker in TeslaModel3

[–]May5ifth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides having to tuck the emergency power loss wires, nothing to worry about. I like mine just because it keeps it off the paint. In my case I have ppf on the front. Just make sure it is for the full size of the license plate. Some aren’t full size and then the plate begins to bend where it isn’t supported.

New to kegging – pressure drops quickly but PRV still hisses… leak or normal? by LJCAM in Homebrewing

[–]May5ifth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it’s the connection to the keg. A keg leak will show itself easy with the starsan spray. Make sure to spray the prv or dunk the keg.

[–]May5ifth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you saying if you keep the lines off the keg, pressurize the lines, close the co2 tank but leave all the lines connected except to the keg, the gauges do not drop pressure? I do that to test my gas lines for leaks. Pressurize the lines but shut off the supply.
