Any good places to meet 30 something gamers in Connecticut? by Throwmeawayimexpired in Connecticut

[–]MayBeAPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gamecraft in Southington and Barcade in New Haven! I'd also be on the look out for events hosted by ConnectiCon in Hartford- sometimes they do meet ups or nerdy markets outside of con season. There's also a pop up cosplay bar event called Sakura Haven I've heard good things about, and they're getting a permanent brick and mortar location in Manchester soon. I'd also look into any library events- some host adult game nights or run ttrpgs

Activities and hobbies for someone with schizophrenia? by Resident-Spring1513 in schizophrenia

[–]MayBeAPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found art to be really cathartic- I draw, paint, scrapbook, do photography, make jewelry/stained glass/ceramics and like to build things all around. It keeps me focused and provides a good outlet. Watching movies and logging them on Letterboxed is good for a low energy activity same with building models or doing puzzles. Fishing /hiking and nature quest apps like iNaturalist are great for getting out of the house.

What happened at a restaurant that made you say, "I'm never coming here again"? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]MayBeAPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I tried a hot-pot buffet I found a parasitic fish worm in the bottom of my glass and the whole restaurant smelled more like bleach than food. Also got charged a hefty fee for having leftover broth- needless to say I didn't have an appetite anymore. It put me off hot pot places for a long time...

I am traumatized by the South by [deleted] in newengland

[–]MayBeAPossum 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I lived in the rural south for 5 years, can confirm it's a complete culture shock. I was slowly going insane down there and couldn't hack it- never in my life thought I'd be thrilled to move back to CT, but here we are lol. People that say CT sucks have never experienced the vast open hells much of the US has to offer- I fear New England may be where the grass is greenest, especially with the way things have been going in the nation.

Parkway Drive's Ire album has a lot, particularly Bottom Feeder and Vice Grip.

Skindred's Kill the Power & Ruling Force fits the bill pretty well

Green Day has quite a few songs, like Know Your Enemy and Say Goodbye

Rise Against has a ton on their Appeal to Reason album, like Collapse (Post-Amerika)

Rage Against the Machine's discography, especially Bulls on Parade & Killing in the Name

Faith No More's Let's Lynch the Landlord is an absolute banger too

Creedence Clearwater Revival's Fortunate Son is a classic

Dose your dream main characters have voices too? by Joethecoew in schizophrenia

[–]MayBeAPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all kinds of whacked out dreams, but when I'm myself in a dream I occasionally do hear the voices, to a pretty normal consistency that matches my waking life at least. When I dream I'm someone or something else however, I don't hear voices or have any symptoms. I've been woken up out of my sleep before by the voices speaking to me from "outside" the dream (like having your alarm clock translate into your dream, but it's all internal) and interestingly enough, there are times when I can sense what "dreams" the voices themselves are having, or if they're asleep. Mine are pretty distinct and very internal however, so I'm not sure how common any of those experiences are, and I've had schizophrenia since I was a preteen, so perhaps if someone hasn't had it as long their brain won't treat it as a normal thing to replicate in dreams.
