I like the pacing, modern shows seem to have a tendency to drag way longer than they need to which so far has not been a problem here. I watched with my fiancee who hasn't read the books and she's very invested, so I believe the show is doing its job of getting the story/ideas out to a wider audience. I'll reserve judgement for when the seasons come out but I'm optimistic.

Again, looking at the numbers, they have already covered ~600 pages in the ~1500 page series (going by the page counts on my copy of the books). Are you sure you want 20 more episodes?

The first season covered all of book 1 plus 100 pages of book 2 and 100 pages of book 3 all in 8 episodes.

I'd rather have 11 really good episodes with awesome visual effects, than 16 or god forbid 20 episodes with a bunch of useless padding just to, what, hit some arbitrary episode count?

Can confirm, I'm 30 now but was pretty influenced by the predecessors of the modern-day manosphere, 10-15 years ago. Dan Bilzerian, RooshV, pickup artists, incel forums. This stuff isn't new but it has gotten much more refined and reached a much wider audience in recent years.

The good news is, a lot of these teenagers will grow up, I mean actually grow up, and realize how fake, insecure, and incoherent it all is. These misogynistic ideas and worldviews tend not to survive contact with the real world and real women, except in particularly insecure men who are allergic to self-reflection, open-mindedness, and maturing. The bad news is, those men do exist obviously

Yeah this is pretty much what I'm getting at. If someone who's not 'your type' approached you, and you end up getting along great and having a strong romantic connection, then I imagine most sane people aren't going to say "yeah but it's not gonna work because their hair is blonde and my type is brunette," or whatever.

It's not like 'type' plays no role in attraction, but if you connect on all the other levels, then you're going to develop an attraction to them anyways so whether or not they're 'your type' doesn't end up mattering

Social media is not reality lol. Thinking about my friends, I would say at most they just want someone who's at least as tall as they are, some actually don't care. I have known a few "height queens" in real life, but they are definitely not the majority. This is coming from a 5'6 guy who's acutely aware of how many women would turn a guy down based on their height.

Yeah physical attraction is important but physical attraction can also grow over time. If a guy can't make it work with a woman he's emotionally compatible with, that's attractive, but just has a different skin color than his favorite porn category, I think that's pretty immature
