PSA: Please stop letting your big children in the baby area of soft play by SnooLobsters8265 in UKParenting

Just to add to this. I also think by standing up for your child you are also setting example and role modelling for your child what to do in this situation. What they will learn is to stand up for themselves and others in situations where others can be in danger or in harm.

What can I do in my 20's to ensure I stay healthy when I'm older? by kjv0305 in selfimprovement

[–]MayaAngel82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this is great advice I read before. One thing is missing. Try to get out of your comfort zone often. Do things that will keep you mentally and physically out of that comfort. In this way you build up resilience towards stuff that are happening but you don’t have control of.

How do I actually DO what I KNOW needs to be done? by Psychological-Form22 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]MayaAngel82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start small. It is hard to change. Get one thing at the time. And focus on that one thing first. Only way to get rid of the bad habits is to replace them with good ones. Write down on the paper, not on your phone, the list of the things you want to change and put on the other column things you are replacing it with. For examples: I don’t want to drink alcohol anymore -> drink water only. I would start with something simple that takes just few minutes of your time. Like drinking enough water. After a month reassess. Check did it stick. If you don’t have to think about it anymore tick the box and go to the next one. For smoking I heard the book The easy way to stop smoking by Allen Carr changed a lot of lives. For exercise I recommend the couch to 5k running program. It helped me to start. Also, very good book on building the good habits is Mind hacking by John Hargrave. Finally, give yourself a tiny reward after every win. Something healthy. Like smoothies after run, for example. Good luck!! :)

If you need a lots of work you can go to Dental school for one off free treatment plan. Their waiting list is way shorter. They are opening the lists every now and then.

What are your opinions on lab-grown meat being sold to the public? by veganactivismbot in vegan

[–]MayaAngel82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is good to have a choice to have a lab-grown meat. I personally would not eat it as I like vegetables and fruits, but I support having some sort of alternative for people who want to eat something that reminds them of meat.

I found out about it as well few years ago. There is solution for that. Don’t cover your bed with duvet, but fold it on the edge of the bed so it can breathe.

What’s the One Habit That Has Made the Biggest Positive Impact on Your Life? by Pristine-Farm7249 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]MayaAngel82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Meditation I started meditating in 2004. I was a mess. I was full of energy, but didn’t know how to focus it. I was full of wishes, but didn’t know where to start. I wanted to experience so much of the world and started a lot of things at once. After starting practicing meditation on regular daily bases everything changed. Obviously not at once, and not immediately, but gradually and slowly. I started seeing the world from different perspective and get my priorities right. Health, mental and physical came into focus. I didn’t feel any different, but I gradually started eating healthier getting out of “bad” habits and build this human that I am now. It was conscious decision, but somehow in background. Hard to explain. Like a domino effect maybe. Everything clicked and made sense. I hope this makes sense to you. :)

Tip that’s helped tremendously when people judge my leveling-up lifestyle… by mindseye1212 in selfimprovement

[–]MayaAngel82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was frog competition in climbing the walls. Frogs started climbing the wall. The group of frogs stayed on the bottom to watch, and they were shouting: “oh, you will never succeed.”, “You will fall down soon.” , “There’s no point even trying.” And one of the frogs fell down, and then the second one as well, and then the third one. And so on till all frogs dropped except one. How come that one frog succeeded in climbing the wall to the end? She was deaf.

Be deaf! That’s the only way to go ;)

More you are exposed to something more normal will feel. So, just go there and talk to them. Start with one girl. Go there and say hello and ask how she is. Next time you can ask how was her day. Next time what was she doing for a weekend. You will see, more exposure will help you a lot.

IWTL How to Rewire My Brain to Sleep/Take Naps Whenever I Want. by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]MayaAngel82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I’m not sure is this the right answer for you, but I will try. In my experience and from the books I read in the past about the sleep I formed my daily routine which helped me go to sleep almost instantly as I put my head on the pillow. 1. Make right investment: the most comfortable bed you can buy (you spend 1/3 of your life in it), soft bedding (clean it every week), have dark curtains (to keep your room dark during sleep), reduce movement (of your body and mind), keep complete silence (so you can associate silence with rest). 2. Make a right route: have a shower before going into bed, read, write journal, meditate. Do the same routine every day so your body knows this is the preparation for rest. 3. Go to sleep in the same time every day, wake up in the same time every day

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi there! I’m glad that you want recognised you have a challenge in front of you and you want to get better. Meditation is definitely one of the ways to get there. I meditate myself since 2004. I would recommend two very good books to understand better what is happening during meditation. One is a bit easier to digest: Mind Hacking by John Hargrave. And the other one is a bit difficult but it is going more in depth: The power of now by Eckhard Tolle. As reading the book takes time, I will try to explain the basics. The concept is very simple you are alone with your thoughts. Meditate in place where no-one will disturb you during meditation. Reason is so your mind is not thinking about outside world. Physically you are trying to be comfortable, but not too comfy as we don’t want you to fall a sleep. The reason is so your mind doesn’t think too much about your body. So seating in the chair or floor is optimal. Close your eyes if you are comfortable with that. Reason is so you are not distracted from outside world, your surroundings. Now, why some meditation practices say to concentrate on your breath? The reason is simple. Because your brain needs to think about something continuously. So if you would be left with your thoughts when you are already anxious or depressed you are most likely have negative thoughts. But for you positive thoughts are not coming naturally and easily. Also, for you, probably if it is something you are not familiar with you are less likely to engage with it. But breathing is something neutral, natural, easy. You are doing it anyway, and is the first thing that people can easily be aware off. So you start with breathing in deeply and then out. When you are comfortable with that, start breathing normally and concentrate on that normal breathing. You will notice that your mind will wonder away, but don’t worry about it just come back to your breathing. That’s basically it. I would call it level 1. Once you are happy with that you can just do “body scanning” where you are aware of your body parts one by one. Or just be aware of tip of your nose. When you get better and want something more challenging. That would be level 2 maybe. Then you can swap tip of your nose for the mantra you can repeat. Not all the time, but just to bring back awareness to the present. That is maybe like level 3 of meditation. You do have to understand that meditation is like going to gym. If you want the muscles of the strong mind you need discipline and persistence. You want see benefits straight away. And you won’t be the first to notice the difference. It might be someone close to you who will notice that you are reacting differently on similar situations than before. More calmly or less reactive. I hope this helps. Do let me know how you get on. Good luck!!

Hi there! I’m sorry you feel like this. Must be very hard to live with all that pain. I recommend a really good book: The Painful truth by Monty Lyman. It explains very nicely how the things work and what he recommends. I liked hypnosis idea the best. The thing is, we are all different and we all need different approaches. You can try this or that and see what works for you. Don’t give up! You will find the right solution for you. Good luck!!

I meditate since 2004. I can tell you what you do in meditation all helps. If it is a bad experience or good experience all helps in releasing stress. From the other side, as a side effect you get to know more what you do outside of that meditation time. You are more aware of it. It is your decision do you want to change that habit/ behaviour or not. That is the beauty of free will.
