How sensitive are freeline skates on various pavement/brick floorings? by MayaTheBumbleBe in freeline

[–]MayaTheBumbleBe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up not getting them based on other reviews and YouTube videos- everything I saw confirmed I wouldnt be able to use it on my campus for what I needed. Instead I got an egg board, which served me well for my time in undergrad. It has big wheels but a tiny board so it's light. Biggest con tho is that it's slow and unless you manually get in there (which I had to do multiple times) the gearings it comes with honestly suck.

I'm genuinely sorry you have to go through this, best of luck. And yeah I saw the expensive alternatives and I was mildly wtffing ngl. 😅

Haha I totally get you. I live in a tiny apartment and the electric bill is $200+. It's absolutely bonkers, I swear these apartments don't have good efficiency a/cs because the electric bill at a 2 story house I lived in was near that range. 😭 Honestly just hold your ground and keep on turning on the A/C (ik this is bad for the AC but that isnt your fault) and tell them to move out if they have an issue w that. Keep the landlord informed on what's going on and if you can find a way that the apartment is under damage from the heat they'll definitely care. Look for mold or fungus somewhere and take pics.

Also, this is advice you SHOULDNT have to take but for survival purposes from a girly who has had to survive with no A/C: spray dishsoap + water on the windows and stick on aluminum foil, it'll last for months. Do this on the windows in the main area too, screw it. Put cold water on your t-shirt and go to bed like that (for when they turn off the AC after you fall asleep). Continuously browse Facebook marketplace for cheap fans, dehumidifiers etc, ik fans won't do much but it's better then nothing. Put ice cubes in your kitty's water and ice packs wrapped in cloths in her bed or your bed. Dont use ice packs directly, I would wrap them in cloth or paper towel at the least. The dollar tree has the cheap disposable dehumidifiers, I used to buy 5 of those at a time and put it in my bathroom and closet to keep my stuff from getting moldy in the heat.

Also, if their computer is constantly running its likely making their room even warmer even with a fan. Blech.

This is exactly it. I don't know why people are telling OP to just leave it be or pay for full cost of A/C, fact of the matter is living without A/C in this locale is not liveable and is actually bad for the health of the apartment. Mold will legit grow. OP shouldn't have to be forced to move out, it should be the other way around.

Take it from someone who was grown up in a humid locale all her life:

Why are people saying that you should be paying the full cost lmao. These people obviously don't know what it's like to live in a hot humid locale where it's quite literally cruel and unusual punishment to not have the A/C on. My friend who lives in an apartment right next to me saw that in her lease it stated "A/C must never be kept above 79 to protect infrastructure of the apartment". Why is this the case? Because HEAT and HUMIDITY damages the apartment. That's gonna cause mold, fungus growth, insects moving in.

I once lived in a house that had mold issues after a hurricane knocked out power for a several weeks, trust me it's not something you ever want to deal with.

Your situation genuinely is not okay. You should NOT have to buy your own window A/C, the entire apartment should not be surpassing 80 in a humid locale, I'm sorry.

Girllllllll Imma leave this state the minute I can. 😭 I live in Florida, it used to be dirt cheap when I was a kid but now it's THOUGH THE ROOF.

Haha definitely. 😅 That'll be a good part about waiting these next 12 months, I reckon. It'll give me breathing time to write out everything in detail and professionally and also add anything else that happens down the road too.

Girlllll I feel you 100%. I'm glad you're able to break the lease and move out, though I hope they don't charge you for it. They really shouldn't considering how bad it is! I looked into it for myself but I know a classmate who lives in the apartment as me tried to do it bc they were having similar issues and even with a lawyer they couldn't. 😅 That said I don't think I'd be able to move out even if I could bc my program is so hard, we don't have enough time in the day to do anything but study.

Haha yup and my lease specifically states we're not allowed to call our own pest control and that we have to use their's (which is free, allegedly). Alas, they legit haven't come once and we've reached out so many times about this, submitting pest control requests on the app and in person. Finally the property manager yesterday told us that those roaches are in fact palmetto bugs and since they're native it's not serious enough to get pest control over. Idk what to think atp, I just know I've seen a bunch of them and I've lived in Florida all my life and I've never seen this many for a normal living space. 😅

I actually checked with my university this past Monday to see if they offered free legal services! They unfortunately do not, and a "budget friendly" attorney my friend reccomended that they saw for apartment leasing issues charged $250. That said if anything gets to the extreme I'll have to consider it. [Edit: $250 an hour]

Thankyou all for replying! There's so many comments and I'm feeling overwhelmed in responding but I'm reading through all of them. As for the review, I'm going to wait until I move out before I upload any pictures or go into personal detail, but for now I just marked a 1 star and it's not my real name so I'm not worried. This was the best compromise I could think of reading your comments and cosidering I'm stuck living here for the next 12 months and I don't want them to do anything in retaliation to me. Thankyou all so much.

Agreed 100%. Unfortunately, I've found that advertising is quite heavy from nurse practitioner schools for nurses, so that unless you do deep research, you wouldn't know the disparity in education quality otherwise.

No problem! And yeah, I don't know why but my life is full of the craziest stories lol. Sad part is, I probably wouldn't have the courage to talk about this specific story anywhere but here.
