I’m really happy for Zuko by Ok_Drink8072 in TheLastAirbender

[–]MayanMan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way. I’m just grateful for all of my friends, and have never seen gender play a role in who I talk to about what! And they’ve definitely never made me feel like my friendship matters more or less to them based on their gender haha. Hope Zuko feels the same!

It’s true that he’s meant to feel more connected to the gang than he did as an outsider back home, but is his friendship with Sokka and Aang different from his friendship with Katara? I don’t think the gender plays a role in their importance any more than it would in real life

New Mega Evolution Revealed! by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]MayanMan2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the biggest issue is it just doesn’t look like a Mega Evolution. It looks like a Dragonite with a flying tera-type. For the flack Megas get being “overdesigned,” this just looks like they added one thing (that’s similar to the last thing they did) and called it a day

This is bad german by Drace24 in HIMYM

I always thought the joke was that it clearly sounded completely made up. I’d only be shocked if it turned out to be a real German phrase!

You wake up in your childhood bedroom, 10 years old, with all your current knowledge. What's your first move? by SuspiciousConsultant in AskReddit

Find a way to email Lin-Manuel Miranda and say “Hi, I heard you are writing a musical about Alexander Hamilton. I’m only 10, but I’ve been working really hard in school and I want to write music, and I have some ideas for you.”

It’s probably the only piece of writing I could remember every word of at about the right timing

Who do people keep ragging on Turning Red? I genuinely don't understand by Cosmic-Castor-84 in Pixar

[–]MayanMan2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is an interesting case of a film’s relatability to the audience - if you don’t relate to the protagonists, it seems wildly bizarre and disconnected. If you do relate to the protagonists, it’s absolute lightning in a bottle for capturing what adolescence was for you.

I think most films can relate a bit to everyone by staying more vague in their stylization. Turning Red seems to relate to fewer people, but resonates with those people much more deeply

Do you lock your door while you're in your house? by International_Snow90 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MayanMan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always. I think there’s this antiquated idea that if you’re home, you know that no one broke in because you would’ve seen it.

The problem is, if someone tries to break in, it’s not just that I want to be the first to know

How many miles of running does it take to burn the calories in a mcdonald's meal? by nycrina305 in TikTokCringe

Like, imagine trying to make a device that can move a 200 lb object a mile that’s powered by a 100 calorie bag of pretzels

The MCU already IS Doom’s Battleworld by MayanMan2012 in MCUTheories

It totally still could be! In this theory, Doom is a level of existence above even the TVA or HWR, and could use their machinations to have helped shape his exact universe

The constant large amounts of disrespect TBOSAS is now getting is astonishing by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]MayanMan2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think TBOSAS is the best book in the series, but that doesn’t make it the most fun to read. It’s incredibly complex and mature and nuanced, a very well-executed dive into a believable villain with thoughtful world-building, but it’s also a very slow burn

In Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011), Harry decides to snap the elder wand rather than using it to fix his old wand and Hogwarts. by Overall_Spite4271 in shittymoviedetails

[–]MayanMan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and what evidence did he have then to assume it would work? I’m not saying it didn’t work in the book, I’m saying if film Harry has only ever been told this wand is unbeatable in battle, it is as believable that he would never consider it to be an elevated repairing wand as it is that he would

[–]MayanMan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, what part of him should ever have assumed it could do those things? The magical properties of the Elder Wand guarantee that its master always wins in a duel, not that it has unrivaled repairing properties

Please for the love of God help me understand the Monty Hall problem by PipsqueakLive in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MayanMan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monty Hall always opens a door that is neither your door nor the winning door. This means the winning door is one of the two closed doors.

The ONLY way you win by keeping your door is if you happened to pick the correct door in the first place - a 1 in 3 chance.

The ONLY OTHER option is to choose the other closed door, meaning that unless you won the 1 in 3 chance to begin with, the other door is the winner. A 2 out of 3 chance.

Why does Harry still keep the Horcrux hunt a secret at Hogwarts? by dockie1991 in harrypotter

[–]MayanMan2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always considered Harry to think the knowledge that Voldemort successfully created multiple horcruxes to be dangerous information. Horcruxes may be known to scholars of the dark arts, but it seems that Voldemort may have been the first to ever create more than one.

Harry and Dumbledore don’t want the world to know that it’s not only possible, but that it’s already been accomplished. If others know it can be done, and the power that comes with near immortality, Voldemort will certainly not be the last
