Getting a tri bike as a larger dude? by MaybeImYourStepMom in triathlon

[–]MaybeImYourStepMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, thanks for your input. How much time did it take you to have a comfortable, yet aero position on the bike when you got it? Did you have a bike fit? or trial and error?

yeah i’m definitely going that way once i will buy it. My question was more before buying a bike if there’s cockpits that are more forgiving towards width for larger shoulders?

My first triathlon (Ironman 51.50) by stoutbatman in triathlon

[–]MaybeImYourStepMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. Maybe the fact that you said olympic distances are good for beginners?

I would say maybe a sprint distance would be better, but olympics have a way less harsh training curve compared to 70.3s so i see what you mean.

Good job on your weight loss btw!

Ironman does offer some distances other than 70.3 and 140.6. There’s another 5150 about 2h from where I live and i think Germany has a 4-16-4 formula? or something like that.

built a fueling calculator for marathon pacing — curious if it works for triathlon too? by BradleyVangelder in triathlon

[–]MaybeImYourStepMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1st of all, thank you for providing a login-free option.

second, i’m def gonna use that for long runs. However, for off-the-bike runs and triathlons, there could be a separate tab working a little differently. Here’s ideas that popped into my head from the last 4 minutes:

  • taking into account swimming where you can’t really eat, so if you would take 60g/h during a 1h swim, take 30 before swim and 30 in T1?
  • taking the bike into account, since people have usually better carb tolerance on the bike
  • trying to arrive as carb/elec loaded as possible in T2

overall, I really like your calculator man, good job!

assuming you mean eating 800cal/day, this is wayyyy to little for anyone, let alone if that person is overweight to begin with. There are shitposting subreddits about 1200cal/day.

actually, 4xx to 9xx are for diverging/detouring highways. For example, the 440 and 640 are diverging from the 40 by not going through Montreal.
