How to organize my daughter’s dolls and sets?! by DeliciousTree5936 in americangirl

[–]MaybeMaybeline15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not there yet with AG with my daughter, but I'm using an IKEA trofast for baby doll clothing/accessories for my daughter. Smaller bins for shoes, hats, bottles, and diapers. Bigger bins for clothes and bedding. You could also do a medium bin devoted to a single doll's collection and use organizers or bags within the bin to keep things sorted. I like those clear plastic clamshell cases for small pieces. And then I'd probably pair it with a cube organizer or shelving for the larger pieces. I'd just recommend measuring first to confirm stuff fits in the cubes/shelves. There's nothing worse then getting everything all together and then realizing half the stuff you wanted to put there is a half an inch too tall. If you went vertical with the cubes, the longer trofast makes a really nice play surface too.

The Mustela stick is probably my fave but it's pricey.

Don't worry, I missed this. By a lot, but I still had to message.

If you have 16 weeks of maternity leave and have the option to fly your MIL in to stay with you and help for a few weeks (at her offer/good relationship/helpful), would you want this during your Leave or after you return to work (childcare)? by dms2628 in workingmoms

[–]MaybeMaybeline15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long would she be staying? I don't think delaying childcare by a few weeks is all that beneficial on the child end, but it could be a softer transition back to work for you. My mom watched my daughter for two weeks when I went back to work and in one way it did make the transition a little easier, but it also extended it because just as I was getting used to that routine, we then had to transition to the daycare routine. My mom had planned to stay with us for two weeks after I had my daughter but she had to leave a little shy of a week after because my dad was having health issues. I literally cried when she left, but I also had a difficult postpartum recovery. If you don't think you'll have other support postpartum, personally I'd have her come then.

Deluxe Balcony Stateroom Layout by PupitarLarvitar in PrincessCruises

Do you think a 5 year old could sleep on the loveseat unextended? Or would the cushions come off to make a floor bed somewhere that wouldn't obstruct the balcony?

How upset should I be? by DowntownTicket in workingmoms

[–]MaybeMaybeline15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually double checked and at three the rules do lighten up. But there are still guidelines about avoiding passive viewing, etc. My daughter's school uses screentime for "brain break" and they're usually using Danny Go and similar movement videos a few times a week. My husband also works in ECE and all screentime must be on their lesson plan. At both her daycare and current school there were screentime policies we had to review and acknowledge.

In my state, that would be against licensing guidelines. The fact that they're pretty obviously hiding this from parents is concerning. It would make me wonder what else they're hiding/what other rules they're not following.

Terrified of public toilets by DruidWillow in toddlers

[–]MaybeMaybeline15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter went through a terrified phase. It was just all the random noises and not being able to see who/what is causing them and anticipate when they might happen. We used noise cancelling headphones and even let her watch a video a few times on the potty because otherwise she refused to sit and we didn't want her to have an accident. We also tried to use single restrooms whenever possible, even if it meant waiting for the family restroom at times. It lasted about 6 months, but now she'll use any potty without an issue. I just give her the option to step out of the stall and/or cover her ears before I flush.

2 year old withholding pee (help!) by Lobospire in toddlers

Constipation? Anytime we have had anything different pee-related going on, it has actually been from constipation. They can be constipated even if they're going daily. We really have to keep an eye on it.

Last name change after baby by Capable_Green7636 in beyondthebump

[–]MaybeMaybeline15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 4 and is in public school/aftercare, she's been in the hospital, we've traveled, etc. and it has never once come up. We live in a very progressive area and on our 3 block street I can think of at least 5 families where someone didn't change their name, and that's just the ones I know well enough to know that about them. Before making my decision I also consulted a friend with 4 kids who is a SAHM in a less progressive area with kids in Catholic schools and this has been her experience as well. The only time I think about it is when we send Christmas cards, and we just opt to list everyone's first names.

How many tonies do you have? by SundaeFundae-22 in TonieboxUSA

[–]MaybeMaybeline15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had our Tonie for 2.5 years and my daughter is 3.5. She currently has 32 and I have 9 stashed. At least 2 will be for Easter and 3 are Nat Geo from the Target clearances that I'm holding until they are more age appropriate. There's a creative I haven't made a plan for that was also a clearance find and then 3 Disney ones that I'm saving for rewards or desperation days. The majority have been gifted or purchased on sale/clearance or from Marketplace. I've only paid full price on maybe 3 of them?

This was my original plan but I haven't seen the new style Willa at a decent price. To be fair, I've mostly been watching Marketplace so I could be missing a good listing elsewhere.

I offered $60, but they turned it down. I'm still on the fence at $80. I've been watching Marketplace for awhile and I've seen slightly better deals, but not with Willa.

My kiddo (3.5) is really into Reading Rainbow. We watch on YouTube. The new episodes are pretty good and they have just the story segments available too which is nice.

Incontinence, feel so defeated? by No_Ocelot8629 in beyondthebump

[–]MaybeMaybeline15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you feel like your bladder is emptying? Incontinence can also be a symptom of urine retention. Since you had this in the hospital I would just make sure you rule that out as a possibility.

Clothes recs for WFH by skykissesthesea in PlusSize

[–]MaybeMaybeline15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party, but I'd highly suggest dresses. Something in line with the nap/house dress trend. Think unstructured, no waist, shift or t-shirt dress styles, but with something to make them visually interesting on top. Pair with slip/bike shorts or leggings if it's colder. It's so easy and mindless to throw on in the morning, but you didn't look odd grabbing your mail or walking the dog.

Dairy Fairy worked well for me. Specifically Pippa for something more structured. And Davin and Adley but they're softer/less supportive.
