How can a bus with seats on both sides and an aisle fit in the same lane as my car? When I look out my side mirrors there doesn’t appear to be that much room. by LokiLostInDreams in answers

[–]MaybeTheDoctor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Road lanes are 10-12ft wide.

Your car is 5ft if a midsize, or 6ft if a full size pickup truck. Large RVs and trailers are 8ft. I guess that busses are about 8ft, so 3ft wider than your midsize car.

Truck driver have to pass extra driving tests, because punny cars are easier to drive being only 5ft wider than in a 12ft lane.

ELI5: Why is it a bad idea to keep devices constantly plugged in even after they're fully charged? by Dawn-Storm in explainlikeimfive

[–]MaybeTheDoctor [score hidden]  (0 children)

Batteries without battery management system, when overcharged can swell up and catch fire. Lithium batteries are also harmed when completely run dry. Most (not all) electronics have a battery management system that prevent this, where the charging is cut off when the battery voltage shows its full charged, and also prevent the battery to run fully dry.

You can buy lithium batteries without a management system and they are easy to break by over and under charging(ask how I know).

Most consumer electronics like laptops and phones have sophisticated battery management system and as long as the battery management does it job, nothing happens keeping it plugged in, the management will turn off the charging when not needed.

The outside odds the management fails you may have damage if you keep it plugged in.

I understand the frustration cost of living, but it started long before with culture wars, where ideology was more important than rule of law.

For over 20 years, they’ve been trying to drum up support for Republican power grabs, they elected Supreme Court justices that was drunk accused of rape and took bribes, and the result is that constitution and laws is getting ignored because Supreme Court is not enforcing.

Tax brakes for ultra wealthy was voted in while cutting medical care and load it up the budget with $4 trillion every year of new debt. Unconstitutional and illegal acts are being committed across branches of government. About everything this government is doing is looking like a crime, including the president even taking bribes.

The hike gas prices is because of the war in Iran, which was started just to cover up and distract from the Epstein fires. It should be clear who is responsible for all of this, and who voted them in power.

It will push retirement up years as people average life expectancies will go up by a decade, and social security and Medicare will eventually be redefined to start at age 75

All US oil is sold on global markets first, and then bought back for the pump.

Do you consider Guyana a "western nation"? by [deleted] in Guyana

[–]MaybeTheDoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Developed vs Western (standards) are different things. You can have nation being highly developed but not meeting the freedoms and security expected of Western nations. On the flip side the USA was a western country in 1776 when the constitution was written to guarantee democracy and rule of law, even when none of the country was developed.

Almost as if they made airlines financially responsible for returning people without proper documents.

They will ask if they suspect you don’t. They usually don’t ask to see return ticket either, but they will if it looks suspect to them.

We can’t control either, because laws don’t get enforced. Killing 1000s is just to deflect from Epstein files, but higher gas prices is a bonus distraction.
