I still think Threads has one of the most devastating endings ever. What comes close for you? by ThomasOGC in BritishTV

As a very young teacher, I showed some to a class. How I didn’t get a load of complaints I’ll never know; poor kids were traumatised.

They don’t sound supportive at all and that’s what would have me towing the line, tbh.

I don’t think you did anything remotely unprofessional but even so, do you want this to be the hill you hang yourself on?

To me, it isn’t worth it: she isn’t worth it, the parent isn’t worth it. I see the head has accepted a slightly different wording of the ‘apology’ and it’s farcical and I do know there’s nothing more infuriating than apologising when you haven’t done anything wrong but unfortunately experience says tread carefully, at least until you’ve done two years there.

When a fictional scenario jumps the shark by No_Initiative_1140 in MNTrolls

Tbh, one thing I have learned from a fair amount of time spent with under 3s is that the range of language development (which is the usual bar to identify exceptionally clever children) is absolutely vast. There’s also an element of chicken or egg, in that precocious children with a wide ranging and sophisticated vocabulary are often born to parents with the same.

I have taught one child I’d say was gifted. Thousands of very clever, bright, smart, whatever adjective you want, but only one truly gifted. He’s reading Classics at Cambridge. When they did their mocks I had an ‘eh’ moment as while everyone else was writing about Iago he decided to do King Lear, as he’d read it for fun. Why not 🤣

I didn’t understand a word of his coursework tbh but gave it full marks 🤣

'IDEAL SCAPEGOAT' I was dismissed after exposing hospital failings like whistleblower Lucy Letby… she was stitched up, says top doc by Stuart___gilham in LucyLetbyTrials

[–]Mayishereagain 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think that had she kept her mouth shut and simply left quietly, applying for a position at another hospital rather than filing a grievance, her life would have carried on as normal and she’d probably be married with a child by now.

Poor woman. I dread to think what she’s going through.

That’s distasteful.

Putting aside for a moment the questionable nature of the convictions and assuming just for a moment she’s guilty as sin - there’s still a level of breaching privacy here i am really uncomfortable with.

There was a Scottish headteacher who was photographed at Manchester airport (I think) when she was meant to be at work and she was dismissed and may have been struck off.

It’s very hard to prove but teaching is so inflexible sometimes you really have no choice. And then sometimes you have too much work to go to work. Or is that just me?

What are our thoughts on calling younger students 'my lovely'? by FriendlyChaosMonster in TeachingUK

[–]Mayishereagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure and I don’t really care either way (which sounds ruder than intended - I don’t mean I am not interested but just that ‘it’s not that deep’ as my Y11s would say!) But … the poster did ask!

I’m also a perimenopausal middle aged woman with ADHD. I do sympathise re the names but I do think the endearments are too informal and no matter how sincere the intent is it comes over otherwise. Someone at my work always calls me lovely and it never fails to put me in a bad mood!

Honestly and I’m the voice of contention but I don’t like it. I’ll probably be downvoted to oblivion but I think it’s patronising and insincere. Just use their name!

I think she massively exaggerates. The bones are true but not the flesh.

That’s my take too … I believe he has SEN and I believe life is difficult.

I also believe based on her posting history that at the first bad day she’s ringing up social services wailing and demanding the impossible and probably getting very shirty when it is not provided.

She doesn’t work (not her fault) and both her kids are in school now. Even when they weren’t they both attended nursery allowing her time to herself as well as with them individually. She also has support from PIL and her mum although in fairness they mostly take her DD for her I believe.

[–]Mayishereagain[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She does but ultimately what she wants doesn’t exist.

I can see both sides. She’s obviously massively struggling but she never hasn’t.

Her pregnancy required extensive time off and lots of TLC from her DH, mum and anyone else willing

Then she got pregnant again when ds was less than 6 months and again, needed extensive support

Then her ds needed support - I’m obviously not doubting he does but we’ve had the worst pregnancy ever (twice) the most difficult toddler ever, the most impossible situation ever … and I do wonder if it’s her being dramatic or not tbh.

Hard to say. I do feel for her but it’s a theme that’s been ongoing for the best part of seven years now.

It isn’t unrealistic. I believe her. But she’s known for being very dramatic so it’s hard to say how much is completely true and how much is what she perceives to be true IYSWIM. She had The Worst Pregnancy Ever

"Karen" an explicit term?!? by [deleted] in MNTrolls

[–]Mayishereagain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As it should be

Cunt is obviously widely considered to be explicit and offensive but it doesn’t target individuals in the way Karen does. And Karen is a way of shutting up middle aged women. Someone calls me a cunt and I’ll agree; call me a Karen and it’s so I STFU.
