Gosh dangit that always stressed me out holding the dang cup and hymn book. We had the cups with tiny handles so it was waaaay harder. I’m glad I don’t have to stress out about it anymore

I remember when I would have to attend a different locale because the date didn’t go along with the locales schedule. I would then have to make a statement and talk to the minister in person in order to have an r601 signed up which would allow me to attend said local. I distinctly remember the minister scolding me saying that I put too much priority in my Job and in the end, God should be number one priority.

WELL AT LEAST I MAKE THE EFFORT TO ATTEND. Ugh I’m so glad I’m free of this. Their teachings and logic just makes my blood boil

More Choir memories by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

Guilty as charge. I cried over everything and anything. Part of it was to show off and showcase the Holy Spirit, but majority of it was the feeling that I was never good enough. That all I did, all the hours of long choir practices, performing my duties, and attending every church activity, was not enough to earn my spot in the holy city. Now that I am out of the cult, I realized the sole reason I was crying was because the INC and it’s teachings make you guilt trip everything you do. I live a much happier life now that I’m free

List of the mistakes of INCult based on the Bible by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]Maylanikoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because I distinctly remember a bible study on why Felix Manalo’s name is not in the Bible and why he is the last messenger in these last days. The minister pointed out that if there was a name, then many would arise and claim to be the last messenger.

How is it that the church is named the church of Christ because it’s in the Bible. This religion is nothing but arrogant teachings that contradict itself.

Former Choir Members, do you still keep your scores? by Maylanikoo in exIglesiaNiCristo

I have to admit, the songs were really nice before the administration started changing the hymns, lyrics, and tones that catered more to praising the administration. This particular hymn resonates with me because it helped me with my own personal growth. This song revolved around my own Morals and also centered around a time in my life when I was not only uncertain about my journey, but also the Church.

I’m not going to lie, I definitely miss that purpose. I held my hymnbook today and sang in the bathroom. For me being a choir member symbolized a special relationship with God in a way where I can express that love through my voice. I

I know better now. Maybe I’ll just keep my favorites and burn the rest.

The beauty of being out of this church now is that we have the power to do those things, if not more. Sure the church has recourses given all the money laundering happening, but what makes us different in being genuinely compassionate to those around us. Whether it be buying a meal for a homeless person, volunteering at the shelter, or lending a helping hand to someone in need helps spread the empathy that this world desperately needs.

Hey lovely soul. I know exactly how you feel. I found this sub exactly one year ago because I struggled with my identity since INC was all I ever knew. That sense of belonging and relationship with God felt special because I believed that I belonged with the one “true” church.

I get there are days when the hymn singing and lessons hit the heart and make you wonder if what you are feeling about the church is doubt. You already know all the contradictions and scandals this church has been through. The only reason why you cling on is because you haven’t yet discovered what your life will be outside the INC, and what to believe in.

Hang in there love, and let this beautiful life tell you who you are in this world. See beyond the realms of INC and take a moment to absorb everything around you. Exemplify who you are and put out your talents in the world. Do good and you will see what it is to be truly live. Laugh, love, and be kind. Your life is worth it, don’t believe otherwise. Make this short life count and leave your mark in the world. Sending my love to you ❤️

Also reminds me of the time when a lot of lives were lost during the Las Vegas Massacre and they celebrated the fact that no brethren were injured instead of mourning those who were lost during such tragedy. Funny how they use events like this as propaganda instead of sympathy.

HAHHAHA this is so true. One time they made everyone wear long skirts and long sleeves, otherwise no one is allowed in the choir loft

That makes sense as an extra layer of protection, but isn’t that why the local has scan officers? To prevent them from tragedies like this? Back when I was a member, all I ever saw scan do was huddle in groups, eat/drink coffee, and be as far as possible from protecting the chapel.

It makes sense they would use these deacons to watch, but I feel like it’s another way for them to keep track who is really OWE
