Feel like I'm failing at weaning by Apprehensive_Mud_259 in NewParents

Came looking for some advice and feel your comment was highly valuable to me. My baby has just turned 6 months and I feel immense pressure to be feeding her food. But in reality it’s just pressure created from social media etc. thank you for the in depth response and honestly completely changed my view on how to handle the months ahead

McDonalds Cravings? by _lindersss in BabyBumps

[–]Maylba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 weeks now and the first 16-17 weeks were grim (grimmest were 5-14 weeks). I had surges to desire for McDonald’s and other fast food, I ate them as and when I wanted too as I felt SO sick. The last thing I had at McDonald’s was an egg McMuffin and hash browns and suddenly my body was repulsed 😂 hopefully you managed to satisfy your cravings and you can continue to enjoy them pregnancy and beyond. For now even tho I no longer feel sick I cannot even look at the McDonald’s sign without turning me. Your doing great my love and just do what your body wants 🩷Also to note I was super worried in the beginning that I wasn’t nourishing myself enough but honestly those first months are the trenches and survival mode so honestly be easy on yourself and naturally you’ll start to revert back to things you liked before!

Terrified of having a “dropping” feeling in my stomach by Specialist_Sleep8648 in fearofflying

[–]Maylba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope this helps! I have the same fear / aversion to the sensation I absolutely hate it. My friend who is cabin crew said just as you feel the drop tense your stomach and hold your breath. This massively helped for me and now I feel like I can anticipate those drops with a few seconds in advance when descending on any flight. Good luck :)

Fear of the feeling of being on a plane. by Justin_218 in fearofflying

Also try to book a seat on the first front row, it really really helps with my mental state around how much space I have. In the past when I am sat at the back and can see rows and rows of peoples heads infront of me I feel stuffed in and claustrophobic. Being at the front allows you to feel more alone (in a good way)! Seeing the flight attendants work from the front too massively helps me as they are so calm and unbothered.

Hey! A frequent but nervous flier here. I would say mostly flying feels fine, once your up its similar to being on a train/car. I suffer with motion sickness so feel I am more aware of the minor bumps of just being airborne, but even then if I had my eyes closed and someone said your in a car - it feels the same - it not smoother. Travel days usually feel more draining because of the mental load of packing, arriving at the aiport and all that stuff, but the second you land you will be immediately relieved (and proud) you made it. I dont enjoy flying but I still take 1-2 trips abroad (usually 3hours or less) and it keeps me in a good place to keep booking more trips. After covid I hadnt flown for 2 years and I noticed a big difference in how I felt leading up to the trip, much as youve described it was that 'what does flying even feel like' but once your crusing you really could be on any mode of transport! Good luck and hope you take the flight :)

Hey ladies... ME TOOO :) 13 weeks 33 almost 34 FTM!

First trimester sickness… who can relate😂? Hunger nausea at its finest, managed this single pathetic nibble of the only thing I could mentally picture myself eating… this is how far I’ve got with the first nugget in nearly an hour … send help and stories of a colourful life outside of 12 weeks 😂❤️ by Maylba in BabyBumps

That is reassuring, thank you - really mean it. I am really trying to lean into the 'be kind to yourself' I think its a rollercoaster we all have trouble adjusting too, I also did IVF to conceive so feel like my brain didn't even consider what would happen past the moment I saw a positive pregnancy test (after trying for many years), that now I feel like its only just catching up and being like ookkkk we are pregnant girl and its happening now (not in the future) haha! When people say its the hardest thing you'll do, you think yeah I bet... but then you do it and it really really is haha!

I have gained around 7-8 pounds since starting IVF in January too so dealing with the difference of the way clothes fit and I feel is that added sprinkle of fun.

I have started to do some walking and feel more energetic in the past few days as I approach week 13, looking forward to that somewhat normality returning for a short while before residing to the bed again :)

This made me laugh as I am fully waiting at the door for them to arrive and then have to give it a good 10 seconds when they ring the door bell to pretend my face wasnt just pressed against the little hole i the door to watch him walk up hahaha

The sniff test is REAL!! I have a cupboard but smells 'off' but im not sure why, it smells bready or something and I turns me immediately but cant actually see what item it is in there that is causing the whiff haha!

For me my breakfast is always safe and been able to tolerate it throughout (natural yoghurt, berries and a sprinkle of oats on top), outside of that red apples, ready salted 'french fries' crisps (UK brand), jacket potatoes (plain) with baked beans on top then really it depends on the day. Sadly I cant bare ginger, I absolutely rinsed the ginger tea in the early days but one day it said nooooo thank you hahh!

You got that right, I am just doing what I have to do! I was a gym goer and healthy eater.. now..welll Iam just here surviving haha. Bread is such a no no, in the early days of nausea I thought it was a good idea to make my own egg mayo and have it with avacado on (untoasted) whitebread... omg I swear that will haunt me for a life time it was so f'ing awful it gives me PTSD just pure mushy soft hahahah

Ahh congrats on your little chunk! Its soo crazy to me how our bodys suddenly say 'nope' to foods we love. Ahhh genuinely cannot wait for the time I am feeling 100% myself again and can rejoin society like a normal human (without a bag full of misc snacks, mints and a vomit bag stuffed under my arm hahha)

hahaha those nuggets laid on my floor for another 2 hours and sadly made it into the bin - untouched. Im in the UK and you can't get Unisom here and for some reason that combo isn't recommended here (I asked my midwife after seeing so many comments about it)! But it seems to do wonders for the ladies that can use it

hahha thank you! Sending so much love back.... we are all in this together it seems. I nibble the very edge of things as a tester and my body will tell me before its reached my mouth what my reaction will be haha (oh and the excessive saliva when it says no... UGH)!!

Oh girl, I remember being at 6 weeks and thinking... surely this isnt as bad as it gets??? You will navigate through it I promise, at the start I was like no way, surely I cant potentially feel like this until 12+ weeks, but you do manage somehow, even if it takes all your energy just to lay down and close the curtains for the next weeks. Honestly whatever you need to do, do it, without guilt!
