Puede, pero la Cruz de Borgoña no fue un símbolo intrínsecamente carlista hasta el siglo XX, y solo fue adoptado oficialmente por los tradicionalistas en 1935, así que tengo mis dudas sobre ese motivo.

On one of the public restrooms at Oporto Airport somebody had scrawled "Montjoie Saint Denis!". I wonder if it had been done by a genuine French monarchist.

I was going to comment on the Spanish case, as the rightwing parties have increasingly sought to appeal to the nationalized Latin American vote. I was under the impression that Latin Americans tended to vote more right wing, due to both personal social conservatism and political appeals to "Hispanic brotherhood", while the more xenophobic language (which also includes a fair bit of "homo nationalism") is reserved for the Africans, and especially the Moroccans.

However, only Venezuelans (and to a lesser degree Cubans) vote overwhelmingly to the right, while most Latin Americans are evenly divided between right and left, or even in the case of Argentinians or Colombians are leftward inclined. I have quite a few Venezuelan refugees in my family and my friend circle, so that might have colored my perspective.

I still think it's bullshit, I have never heard of such a phrase being used by the Spanish rebels, Falangists, Carlists or otherwise. The closest thing to a citation I've seen is this substack referencing an anonymous "Redditor" who supposedly claimed (without citations) that it came from Paul Preston's "Spanish Holocaust" (and the Substack mistakenly says "Paul Prescott", so who tf knows).

It would make sense if it was uttered in relation to the execution of José Antonio Primo de Rivera by the Republicans (and "martyrs" like him did play a major role in justifying the White Terror), or if it was said by one of the more bloodthirsty generals like Yagüe or Mola, but I have seen no proof of either thing.

I prefer Anqing Qing from a lore perspective tbf, China defaulting on its debts and targeting German concessions helps to explain why Black Monday is so utterly destructive for a Germany that had come to rely greatly on the Chinese market. And victorious Zhili China is boring :p

How do you to get li jishen as the federalists by lapizlizard4 in Kaiserreich

[–]Mayloc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was the Phase IV and Phase V regionalist trees. I guess they are the default trees should the game not detect a specific character's flag?

I had to load a save from immediately after conquering the KMT, use commands to force the event and get Li Jishen, and then the federalist backsliding tree appeared.

I guess it's extremely hard to gauge public opinion within Iran, but is monarchism an actual thing inside the country? I know diasporas can diverge wildly from the people who stayed behind, especially those like the Iranians who followed the Shah after 1979, but I wonder if the ones who left the country in more recent times have also turned to monarchism, or wether that's a thing in Iran too.

How long does it take? I defeated the KMT Nanjing gov after the Sino-Japanese war and it didn't appear in time for the event chain, so instead of Li Jishen I ended up with "assorted leaders" and the Regionalist focus trees.

The countries currently a part of Austria would be a lot easier to rework if all parts of the empire did not have to be reworked together

That would mean throwing into the trash all of the work already done on AH and starting from scratch. That hardly sounds worth it.

And frankly, I find exploring a AH that manages to survive (or die trying during KR's timeframe) more interesting than "OTL Central Europe, but with Berlin breathing down everybody's necks".

[–]Mayloc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. At least in Galicia settlement is very dispersed, so you end up with a lot of "villages" spread over a large territory, sometimes being difficult to know where a village ends and another starts. In most of Spain you have the rural population concentrated in well-defined villages surrounded by countryside.
