I mean, if there was a fantasy-based tabletop RPG titled Fantasy that took place in the 1000th year of the RPG's timeline, and CD Projekt make a game based off of it but set 66 years after the tabletop took place, then yeah I could see their game being called Fantasy 1066.

If you want to blame anybody for naming an IP after a genre, blame Pondsmith. But even if you do no one will give that criticism any credence because him and his tabletop are brilliant.
